Re: Theos-World US Elections

Good story.

The fundamental problem, in my opinion, is that the issue of age and health
should have been openly discussed several months before the nominations came
up.

But it looks like all political activity seems to have taken place hush-hush
for quite some time (looks like going back to December 2005) and the
nominations came on us as a surprise, when Section Secretaries tried to
intervene and support one of the candidates with information which was not
supported by professional opinion.

The miscalculation on those working on nominations seems to be that every
thing would be kept hidden from members, as in the past, that the members
will blindly believe what was disclosed to them by their leaders. In the
calculations, the presence of Internet and the world-wide communication was
overlooked. It is not surprising to me because I do not think anyone in the
top really understands Internet except in a very limited way. Internet puts
all actions under bright sunlight so Truth can shine.

Now we are in such a complicated situation and will have to see how it get
untangled.
