I have a different take.? Ok, I'll admit that I've always questioned Radha's mental fitness from the first day that she staggered into Olcott.? I've also had a few minor run-ins with John but we always ended up laughing about them.? (He even forgave me for sleeping through his talk at the World Parliament of Religions in 1993.)? But the real reason that I want John to win is that I don't think the TS Presidency should be considered a lifetime appointment.? Radha losing the election would signal the?society that the president ain't no bloody Pope.? Once that aura is broken, maybe it might be possible to have the international administration behave in some rational manner towards the rest of the TS.

Dear Shuller:
The central issue is Radha Burnier's current physical and mental fitness..
I fault the General Secretaries in the way they addressed the issue. They
should have addressed it head on ahead of time of nomination. Also when the
Doctors certificates came out, they have kept silent. Not only silent, they
did not make any attempt to disseminate the information to the members so
far. All members deserve to be informed of this important information,
because if you listen to some of the nominators' layman/woman opinion,
Radha Burnier is very sick - mentally and physically and the doctors who
have examined her give her a totally different opinion.
I think that is very unfair to members. There are many physician members and
highly educated members who either have first hand information on health
matters or can research the doctors certificates and dissect the reports and
interpret and share the interpretation on the Internet for all of us to be
educated. That would make us use our intelligent judgement before we
exercise our votes.
So this seems to simply show that the old-time pre-internet mentality still
prevails at the highest levels. In the past, they had control over the
channel of information, so they could fine tune and feed info to members
what they like. Thus in important matters members were kept in the dark and
elections were channeled in the direction they liked and got their man or
woman elected. Fortunately for members we have Internet today.
But for the unmoderated maillist like this one, today we would not be
exchanging ideas and information and keep up with world-wide developments.
Also, these Internet forums are free and all the leaders could have used it
to discuss all their points of view and it is free and all you need is an
Internet connection. They have not done so.Why?
