Re: Theos-World Kundalini and Buddhi

Hi Henry...

Raja Yoga is a term that may be used in different ways. It is usually
applied to Patanjali's Yoga system, although there are other schools
also. HPB use this term as a synonymous of Occultism (or rather,
occult training) under the guidance of a Master, in the theosophical
sense of that term (that is, an Adept, or at least a Chela of them).
She said, for example, that the instructions she gave in the Esoteric
School were a preparation to the real Raja Yoga. Since I'm part of
the theosophical movement, my practices are based on those teachings.
I don't have any particular Raja Yoga Teacher. My experience is that
we can learn and grow a lot without the necessity of a particular
teacher. In fact, the very life is our greatest teacher, if we have
eyes to see and ears to hear: books, relationship with co-students
and people in general, daily situations and challenges, and an
eagerness to live according to our principles, will be our guru.
Because when one person is working in earnest, the situations in his
life take an extraordinarily powerful order that indicates and gives
the chance to develop what he need in his spiritual path (there is,
by the way, a very beautiful writing of HPB about this). But of
course, he has to be willing to hear the words of this guru, what
means to face every situation without trying to escape or justifying
himself, without choosing pleasurable things or people and rejecting
the painful ones, etc. Then, there the true Raja Yoga Teacher may
appear to the student, after having completed this preliminary Yoga
by himself.
That is, at least, my understanding.
