To think for oneself - it is one of the most difficult things. All we can
read and all the hear say is just second hand. What we think and come to our
own understanding is what is going to stick with us. And any group or
organization find it difficult to deal with people who think for themselves
as it is unpredictable where one's thinking will lead. And hence will not
fit in with any organization - almost all of them either explicitly or
implicitly expect conformance of it people belonging to it.

Based on my own experience, over several decades during which I have been
exposed to theosophical doctrines, many of my personal understandings of
today have never been discussed in most formal settings even though much of
them are quite obvious if only one cares to think about things as they are.

I am always reminded of the famous comment of Lord Buddha who told his
followers not to believe in anything just because he said so. Such
skepticism is needed to keep our minds open to new understanding. Of course
many may not agree with much of the about. What does it matter. In the final
analysis it is my life what matters and not some one else's.
