ULT's Astrological Chart

Friends,
The United Lodge of Theosophists, ULT, has been recently described
by one or two Theos-talkers as a "great mystery". Is it?
In that case, perhaps Astrology is among the tools which can help us
understand this "riddle" in the present-day theosophical
movement.
Of course, the ULT as such does not care about Astrology. I am but
a recent associate in it, and I study Astrology as an independent
individual.
The following lines are therefore a free and un-ortodox initiative.
They draw a broad view of the sky in the moment the ULT started to
exist. It is unlikely that many ULT associates have ever thought
about the 1909 inauguration, from an astrological viewpoint.
The ULT as such was founded in 18 February 1909. Presumably in the
evening.
If we take into consideration that HPB, as the ancient
Pythagoreans, thought that odd numbers are better than even
numbers, the time of the inaugural meeting should be either seven
p.m. or nine pm. Therefore, seven p.m. is a likely time for a
meeting, at a probably cold winter evening.
With a chart for February 18, 1909, seven p.m., there is no
doubt that we have an excellent humanitarian and mystical endeavour,
based on a broad view of things and an active solidarity among
independent people.
The Sun is at 29 degrees and 51 minutes of Aquarius, an
humanitarian, idealistic, intellectual, broad-minded and independent
sign. Sun is also very near to the occult and mystical sign of
Piscis, a territory where the Sun entered later that night, almost
as soon as the inaugural meeting was closed.
The Chart's Moon is also in Aquarius, which gives an extra strength
to the humanitarian view of life, to universal friendship feelings,
to a strong individual independence, an unique style which can be
perceived by others sometimes as "eccentric". In addition to that
Aquarian Moon, also Venus ( magnetism ), and Mercury (
intelligence ), are in the same sign, and in strong conjunction
with the Moon.
Planetary master Pluto, powerful but mysterious, is on the top of
the map, in the House Ten of public image ; and it has a favourable
link with the Sun.
Saturn, the centre for discipline, method and sustained effort,
but for Karma and Time, has a favourable angle with the Chart's
Moon.
As to Neptune, the mystical regent of Piscis, it is in a nice
aspect with Jupiter, the great protector. Jupiter dwells in the
occult House 12 of the Chart. Uranus, Aquarius regent, is
reasonably well situated.
The Ascendant, which expresses the way the ULT moves, is in Virgo,
is a healing, practical, detailed, critical and hard-working sign.
One of the interesting things in the Chart is that Mars, the
planetary master of pioneer impulse and objective creativity, is
located at 26 degrees and 41 minutes of Sagittarius, in a precise
conjunction with the Center of our Galaxy. The Center of the Galaxy
moves as slowly as any fixed star. As I write, it is at 26 degrees
56 minutes, Sagittarius.
The Center of our Galaxy is linked to the "Central Sun" about which
HPB writes about in "The Secret Doctrine". Referring to the way
Kabalists see this mysterious Central Region, HPB teaches:
"This `central sun' of the Occultists, which even Science is obliged
to accept astronomically, for it cannot deny the presence in
Sidereal Space of a central body in the milky way, a point unseen
and mysterious, the ever-hidden point of attraction of our Sun and
system – this `Sun' is viewed differently by the Occultists of the
East. While the Western and Jewish Kabalists (and even some pious
modern astronomers) claim that in this sun the God-head is
especially present – referring to it the volitional aspect acts of
God – the Eastern Initiates maintain that, as the supra-divine
Essence of the Unknown Absolute is equally in every domain and
place, the `Central Sun' is simply the centre of Universal lifew-
Electricity ; the reservoir within which that divine radiance,
already differentiated at the beginning of every creation is
focussed. Though still in a laya, or neutral condition, it is,
nevertheless, the one attracting, as also the eyer emitting, life
Centre." (1)
There is much more to be studied today about the Center of the
Milky Way, and it is rather stimulating to do so by now, as Pluto in
transit in the sky is at 26 degrees, 36 minutes, Sagittarius, in
December 20, 2006. The Sun is at 28 degrees Sagittarius ; and the
Center of the Galaxy is undisturbed at 26 degrees, 56 minutes. It
is the centre of the whole wheel of life, he cosmic samsara, in our
part of the universe.
In the 1909 astrological `mandala' of the ULT, Mars is at that
precise point of the Earth's sky.
As a collective effort -- as a worldwide community of idealists --
the ULT is unconventional. It is long-standing, it is constant,
and it is based on hard-work. It is located in the very link
between Aquarius and Piscis.
It was created in a positive and creative moment, if seen from the
point of view of H. P. Blavatsky's own astrological birth Chart in
1831.
Best regards, Carlos Cardoso Aveline.
