Sometimes, the less people know about things, the more they want to defend "clever opinions" about them. See below the first lines of a recent example.
Modern sophists think that anything unknown to them must of necessity be non-existent -- or else selfish and unlegitimate.
Unknown things thus work as faithful mirrors to their consciosness.
