The only one the see this as a confusion as probably you, Carlos. 
The fact that a majority of the Theosophists in generation one were 
Masons, that TS rituals and lodge was build up with the Masonic 
lodges as pattern and that Masonry was seen as one of the premier 
esoteric bodies in Europe have nothing to do with confusion at al.

And about the TS ritual; As late as 1891 was Olcott using it, during 
his visit in Stockholm.
