Following the advice kindly provided by Carlos, I have this afternnon sent
the following e-mail to Dennis at the ULT. I'll keep you advised of what
follows.
Dear Dennis
The following was posted on theos-talk today:
Dear Dr. Gregory Tillett, dear Friends,
As we know, many a student of Theosophy has respect for the work done
since the 1980s by Gregory Tillett.
Tillett recently made a few questions at Theos-talk about whom he should
write to, in order to know whether and how he could visit the ULT, for
instance in its "Theosophy Hall" in Los Angeles, and see its archives with
the aim of historical research.
While I immediately wrote here a general commentary on the issue, I also
asked the ULT-LA to say something on the subject.
This is the answer I just received from ULT-Los Angeles:
"The doors of U.L.T. are open to everybody. If an historian has any
question, he can either call this number 213- 748-7244 or come and visit the
Lodge in Los Angeles: from Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m to 4. p.m."
In the ULT there is not an 'officer in charge', so to say. But Dr. Tillett
may write as an example to Dennis at: info@theosophycompany.org .
I hope that helps.
Regards, Carlos.
Following the advice given I am writing, as an historian of Theosophical
history, to you with the following questions. I would be grateful if they
could be answered.
1. Does the ULT have archives (as opposed to a public or semi-public
library)?
2. By whom are the archives owned?
3. Who controls the achives [i.e. from whom does permission have to be
obtained for access]?
4. Are all papers and documents left by Mr Crosbie accessible to outside
scholars?
And, additionally:
1. Does the Dzyan Esoteric School [DES] exist?
2. Who is/are the head/heads of the DES in this world?
3. Does the DES have archives?
4. By whom are those archives owned?
5. By whom are those archives controlled [i.e. from whom does permission
have to be obtained for access]?
6. Does the DES claim to be the or a successor of HPB’s Esoteric Section?
7. What are the qualifications for membership of the DES?
With good wishes
Dr Gregory Tillett
