I never denied they had consciousness. Did you read the piece by Gardiner? One minute you say that judgement requires individual consciousness and the next you say that plants judge? Judgement requires self consciousness, plants do not have self consciousness, but exist in consciousness as all beings do.

They do not have an individualized brain consciousness, which is quite another thing. They have no individual conscious choices, but by their affinities they "choose".
On the other hand, I have written here on the ability that humans have to use their words in more than one sense and often not mechanistically.
Words are tools, not cages, for one's thought.
