Carlos,

I suppose someone may have come to the number "665" ( see below) by
mediumnistic methods, or by public lottery, since we are not given
substance about that.

What vague and distracting comments!
First of all, the "someone" was Dr. H.N.Stokes. You knew that if you
had read what I wrote. He is the person who took the time and effort
to research the subject. He came up with that number. No he didn't
do it thru mediumship but thru research, etc.
Just as he revealed much about Leadbeater and Besant in his O.E.
LIBRARY CRITIC, he also did research on, for example, this subject as
well as the material about the relationship between Mr. Judge and
Mrs. Tingley. In both of these latter cases, he simply pointed out
facts that apparently ULT/Theosophy Company writers didn't want to
deal with.
In my posting I gave some noted examples of the changes. Hundreds of
other examples could be given. If you would do a simple comparison
yourself, you would see that what Dr. Stokes and Walter Carrithers
wrote and spoke about is true.

The corrections, if really made, should be useful. Similar
acusations are made against Boris de Zirkoff. Yet Boris, Pasadena,
Point Loma and the ULT have played major roles in preserving the
teaching. With help from Adyar in many cases (Boris, for instance).

Well, was the "thin oblongs" correction useful??
Did you read Peter Merriott's objection and analysis of
this "correction"?
One would think that you might be somewhat concerned if indeed the
Theosophy Co. edition of the VOICE has "corrections" made not only by
Judge but also by Besant and Mead!!
Ask your friend Jerome Wheeler for more details about the Besant/Mead
connection.

Who do you think "tampered" with the 1893 edition of the SD?
It appears that you simply do NOT want to admit that there are some
serious problems with the Theosophy Co. edition of the VOICE.
In comparison, see how Wes Amerman responded in a open and forthright
way to my findings about the TC edition of the VOICE. I thought his
response was admirable and shows that at least he is not one to "beat
around the bush" and that he neither ignores obvious facts nor
uses the DENIAL technique. :)

You are right that regardless of the level or amount of HPB's praise
for Judge or anyone else, it does not explain whether any
particular "correction" was justified. Therefore, I agree with Peter
Merriott that, for example, HPB's phrase "thin oblong squares" should
not have been changed.
I agree that readers should know what changes are made to a text, and
by whom. Therefore I agree with your assessment that Dallas' comments
should also apply to Judge's corrections of "The Voice of the
Silence." Your solution of affixing a note or label of some sort in
our current edition of that work has merit, and I will take it up
with my colleagues at the next available opportunity.
Similarly, I will suggest that when it comes time to re-print
the "Voice," thatwe do so as she originally wrote it.
This would be entirely consistent with the "hands off" editorial
policy of The Theosophy Company. More than that, I am not sure what
it is that you suggest we do.

Do you know who Wes Amerman is?
Wes wrote his reply in 2003. As far as I know, the TC is still
selling the 1928 version but there is hope that maybe Wes' view will
prevail and that one day the TC board of directors will vote to
reprint a facsimile edition of HPB's original.
