Editorial Policies

Daniel,

I generally do not use the expression "silent editing". Because by "silent editing" you don't know precisely what you are talking about. Is it about changes in content? Is it about changes in transliteration, technical terms and the like?

I prefer using the term "tampering", as used by some of the Adyar Leaders in the 1960, with regard to their own editorial changes in the contents, in the ideas, of various theosophical works.

Boris de Zirkoff has already been accussed of "silent editing", with other words perhaps, but he was not acused of making changes in content, as long as I know. People enjoy criticizing each other's editorial work as a superficial level, and that is OK. It is important to see and correct every possible mistake.

But my point are the changes in content, conscious "editorial adaptations" of the originals, misinforming as to the authorship of the texts, publishing false texts as true, and related matters.

Which is different from discussing Sanskrit transliteration policies and the like.

Carlos.
