Carlos,
Indeed, this could be said to the be most important task of the
student.
I should also say that, as student, we can try to understand and to
live the philosophy of Theosophy.
Humanity is at a crisis, a cross-roads, in its evolution. It is for
this reason that HPB did the work she was sent to do. It is for this
reason that we who are priviledged to know these teachings have
access to the "doctrine" held "secret" for so many ages. It is our
responsibility to use this knowledge to help our human brothers and
sisters evolve to a consciousness of the Unity of all Life, to bring
to pass on Earth a Golden Age of Brotherhood (Sisterhood too, of
course). We are told that the battle is won on inner planes. It is
our task to use the information we have been given to make this next
step in human evolution a reality on the material plane.
Toward this end, it behooves every one of us to pay close attention
to how we manifest the basic principles of theosophy in our daily
lives. It is by our everyday thoughts, words and deeds that the
transformation is brought about. Are we kind and compassionate with
each other? Are we forgiving of each others' faults and mistakes, and
of our own? Do we try always to help others, to put the needs of
others before our own? Do we search out within our own "secret"
selves the weeds of selfishness and egotism and consciously dedicate
ourselves to a higher purpose, to the service of our fellow humans?
Each individual student is the only one who can answer such questions
about himself, but the answers to such questions carry the clues to
whether humanity will evolve the promised Golden Age, or will slide
back into eons more of selfishness and man's inhumanity to man, and
everything else.
It's a big responsibility, but I'm sure we are up to it. It's our
biggest opportunity in many many ages. It's worth our best efforts.
There are no little things. Every effort has a positive effect on the
whole.
