Adelasie,

I should also say that, as student, we can try to understand and to live the philosophy of Theosophy. That includes not only having respect for one's teachers but also, when necessary, defending them from slanderers -- something is is most clearly illustrated in HPB's writings and life... and even in HSO's life.
