Yes, hard to verify, and this is a good thing.  

Written-down, bureaucratically-transmitted "authority" belongs to Vatican-methods. 

The theosophical movement has instances where things are not three-dimensional and must be understood by each one's conscience.  Yet,  looking at the fruits of the tree will be useful! 

This is  related to the principle of the autonomy of each learner, a principle repreatedly and paciently taught by HPB and the Masters.
