(In Cuba, the Adyar TS exists and has been well tolerated. It was never closed.) 

It is important to note that it was after 1929, when Yosip Stalin crushed all other trends of thought  in the Soviet Communist Party, that theosophists were actually put in prison, as you report below. 

Yet in 1918, during Lenin's period, the Theosophical Society was already prohibited. 

Marxism is far from being the best of the social movements in the history of mankind.  

And Stalinism has more than one element in common with Nazi-Fascism, as Isaac Deutcher wrote. 

A question: was it only under Gorbachev that the theosophical movement re-started in Russia/Ukraine?
