Actually it is not that simple. There are a lot of conflicting pressures in
the upper reaches of the Adyar TS. Because it is not an organization that
expects complete, or any, unity of opinion of its members it has many
different constituencies to keep happy and they fight all the time. The American
section is the second largest section and still the most affluent. It provides
a lot of support to the international TS and has to be paid attention to but
the other sections are not happy about it. The mission statement is an
attempt to keep everyone happy and like most such attempts only succeeds in making
everyone unhappy.
