Geoffrey  Hodson described  Mars and Mercury physical plane civilizations during his classes in Adyar (School of the Wisdom) in the 1950s. The substance of his classes was published in two volumes by Adyar TPH.   He followed CWL's descriptions of those planets. 

G. Hodson led a pure life and was sincere. His main problem was common sense. 

At the psychic level, he thought he had full verbal contact with the Masters as long as he lived, up to the 1980s.  He was sorry Adyar had "given up" or "lost" contact with the Masters since Sri Ram took over in the early 1950s. And he "channeled"  several books supposedly dictated by Masters. Such books  are extremely shallow in content, if compared with HPB/Masters content. 

>From a historical viewppoint, I guess it is not positive that since 1950 no important history of the movement has been published by any of the major theosophical groups.  People should not stop learning from history. 

Nearly all significant historians of the movement today do not belong to it. This may be connected to the level and quality of vitality you find in the movement today. 

Nothing against independent historians. They do a good job, though often fragmentary. The question is -- theosophical historians will aim more directly at extracting  from the past practical lessons useful to the movement. And they will give a better picture of the context.  

The period 1950-2006 is scarcely covered.
