I'll go along with the music part, but in sports it seems to be the  
opposite, with the fans of each side joyfully calling for the death of the other  
team's players, brawls, and a sort of general stupidity overwhelming the entire  
enterprise.
 
If there is a sense of brotherhood in sports, it has managed to elude  me.
