Because he is an embarrassment. Think of it this way. Someone comes into
the library from our fundamentalist neighbors 2 miles down the road with an
old copy of one of his books and begins to ask why we, being normally rational
if somewhat eccentric people, believe x and y. We are placed in the position
of having to explain that while we find the man rather entertaining, no one
except the LCC Bishop who runs the computers still takes anything he says
seriously. (And the last time he spoke at the Milwaukee Lodge I went to hear
him for old time's sake as for all my kidding he is a friend and my wife was
utterly horrified at the hash Leadbeater made of history, Christianity, the
poor Egyptians and everything else he touched on. And I had to try to explain
to her that we found the stuff just as bad as she did only we were stuck with
it!)

This really happened when I hung around Olcott years ago and I'm sure it
still does.

Leadbeater is an embarrassment. Not as big an embarrassment as Annie Besant
embracing Fascism (we can have a lot of fun with that!) but an embarrassment
none the less.

And we don't have to go into pedophelia on top of it.

We have to laugh at him to keep from crying.

Chuck the Heretic
