Dear Daniel
On the positive side we can all be learn something from this catastrophe. Even if it is, what we did wrong and how we can address these problems in the future. I believe that we have seen how beuracracy falls in a heap when challenged with a major catastrophe. Mr. Bush should take the blame on the chin as leader of your country, which would stop all the finger pointing and back stabbing. Again the focus will be taken off humanitarian and placed on the political agenda. As President, he would be respected a lot more if he said, I as leader, take full responsibility for the state of events that followed Katrina. End of story. Let us see if he is a real leader.
A congrational hearing is only going to take up millions of dollars and will end up laying the blame on the system and not on the individual. A total waste of time and money and put's the pollies back into the comfortable position of saying we are now doing our job.
Let us learn from these mistakes and be prepared next time, as I believe according to the weather predictors that we can expect a lot more incidents like this which will involve the world's population.
What is wonderful is how the rest of the world was ready to be there to assist. This, I hope, is the beginning of brotherhood throughout the world.

Special Edition: Katrina's Aftermath

On Wednesday, August 31, 7 p.m ET CNN started reporting
the following:
ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES
Katrina Aftermath: Live From Bay St. Louis
See:
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0508/31/acd.01.html
SUMMARY:
By 9 o'clock ET Monday, August 29th officials should have known
there was a MAJOR DISASTER probably going to be of BIBLICAL
PROPORTIONS.
By 9 o'clock ET Tuesday, August 30th, the highest government
officials both elected and appointed (federal & state) should have
known that a DISASTER OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS had indeed engulfed
the Gulfport states....
Yet aid and help were so slow in coming to the victims of this
hurricane that even the former Republican Speaker of the U.S. House
of Representatives Newt Gringrich stated:
"I think it puts into question ALL of the Homeland Security and
Northern Command planning for the last four years, because if we
can't respond FASTER THAN THIS to an event WE SAW COMING ACROSS THE
GULF FOR DAYS, then why do we think we're prepared to respond to a
nuclear or biological attack [for which we have no advanced warning
whatsoever]?" CAPS added and words in brackets also added.
