What Government Officials at Federal, State & City
Levels SHOULD HAVE KNOWN on Monday Evening, August
29, 2005 about the terrible damage done by Hurricane
Katrina

Click on link BELOW to see transcript of CNN's
special edition of ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES.

I remember seeing live on television this CNN program and
feeling awed and overwhelmed by what was already known
that evening.

Notice what Jeanne Meserve, a CNN correspondent, was
already reporting to the world during this program:

"Anderson, we are west of downtown [New Orleans] . I'm perched on
what used to be an entrance ramp on to I-10. I am looking over a
scene of utter devastation. In an entire neighborhood, water has
come up to the eaves of the houses and am told this is not the worst
of it. That beyond this, part of the upper Ninth Ward, I'm told the
main part of the ward further down is even worse. The water is over
the houses. This is a life and death situation. I think by the end
of the night we're going to find a lot more death than we ever
imagined...."

"I am overlooking one cluster of people, there look to be three or
four of them. Some of them appear to be children...They are standing
out there in the middle of water that looks to be up to their knees.
There are other people who have gone up to their attics and busted
through and are trying to wave for help. We've talked to a couple of
people who have been rescued. They say the water came up very
suddenly after the worst of the storm had gone by. It was a surge.
They said it was so quick they barely had time too get to their
attic...."

Now here is the link to the transcript of the whole program:

Government officials, for example, the President of the US,
Governors of Louisiana and Mississippi, Secretary of Homeland
Security, the Director of FEMA and the Mayor of New
Orleans.....SHOULD HAVE KNOWN by late Monday evening about the
terrible destruction caused and still being caused by Hurricane
Katrina.

IF any of these officials were unaware of all of this late Monday
or early Tuesday, we do know that millions of other people in the US
and around the world knew about what had happened because of what
was reported on television and through other media during this time
period.

COMPARE and CONTRAST the accounts given in this CNN program
with what some of the above officials CLAIMED they knew or didn't
know on Aug 29, Aug 30, etc. about the extensive damage
caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Later Monday night and in the nighttime of early Tuesday morning
into the daylight hours of Tuesday ... the reports on television of
destruction and disaster only got WORSE..................
