Dear Morton
Behind the idea, is that people are dying needlessly because of politics and politicians. Your patriotism is honourable and if my comments offended you I apologise. However, the fact remains, people's dignity must come before public image. Mr. Bush is putting out the image that the US requires nooutside assistance from the world that America is in full control of the disaster and his latest contribution regarding his returning in two years toa "New New Orleans" is not, I imagine what the evacuees need to hear right now. He appears to be totally out of touch with the situation. And unlike Caeser's wife, he is not above reproach.
 
The Netherlands, has on standby, an expert team on levees to shut off the flow and help with reconstruction, fact, Mr. Bush has said No. Cuba has offered 1500 MD's, Mr Bush has said No. The Germans have offered to send their elite crew to assist with the evacuees, fact Mr Bush says No. the list goes on. Within 48 hours the world offered it's hand to the citizens of New Orleans, the offer was rejected. Can you explain the idea behind this? Elitism if nothing else?
 
I do not believe I have confused belief or assumptions with real knowledge,as CNN, Fox, BBC have been broadcasting 24 hours on the relief situation. Hundreds of stories of incompetence are now coming out. Hence my opinion that there are too many chiefs and not enough indians. Finally, however, theright man has stepped up and has accomplished more in 24 hours than those previously in charge accomplished in 7 days. An army general, who cares more about the citizens of New Orleans than about the public image of the politicians. As Hazrat Inayat Khan says, "One's duty is to do now what can be done now. Nothing that one really values should one put off till tomorrow".
 
I do not apologize for spending time studying theosophy or any other subject I see fit to study, nor do I need to apologize for spending time in discussion with others of like views or contrary views, via forums. I have worked, probably, longer than you have been alive, and if I choose to spend my free time in this way, I have no problem with that. 
 
Help comes in many forms and perhaps those who are unable to "be on the ground" can assist in bringing about a change of thinking. We all have a partto play in the future of this planet, and when one offers a hand it says more about the person who bites it than the one who offers it.
 
I have no idea what you are referring to in relation to your sex change.

I’m going to give it to you hard and straight…….Mike Brown should be fired. Actually he should be persecuted for negligence. Folks, I work in this field so I can tell you first hand he does not reflect one single personI have ever worked with. This guy is not respected by anyone in the field,and I am appalled at what I have witnessed with FEMA. What the world has witnessed ‘does not’ reflect the vast majority of professionals and volunteers in emergency management. 

 

I have little doubt director of FEMA Mike Brown, would like to blame this on the administration, and he would be absolutely right to do so. I just hope he has the balls to do it, but from what I have seen of his reports to the nation, I don’t think so. The responsibility lays directly at the feet of the President. That’s right, Bubba Bush is the culprit. Sure, one could say he is nothing more than the puppet of Karl Rove and Dick Cheney, and this may be true, but if he had the fortitude to stand up for himself and be more like his father, then he would have cut the strings long ago. 

 

MIKE BROWN – YOU’RE FIRED Now get the hell out of my office before I kick your “I didn’t do it, but I’m in control” ass. 

 

In large part it really comes down to Bubba having our National Guard in Iraq. This in part was one of the main arteries which led to the worse crisismanagement in history. I love the “principals” of my country, and I grieve for what it has become. Folks, I travel the world as many of you, so Isay this with authority. The world was laughing at us, then they despised us, now they “pity us”. The world is watching in dis-belief. Statementslike “look at them, they get a major catastrophe and they look like the “Three Stooges”. 

 

GEORGE ‘BUBBA’ BUSH, YOU’RE FIRED. Now get the hell out of “our” office before I send you to real ‘boot camp’ with General Honore and let you get some training. Don’t worry, we’ll let you see your mamma fromtime to time. No, I’m not saying you’re a mamma’s boy, but are you? Now get the hell out of here before I call your mamma to really let you have it.

 

The next person that should be removed immediately is the so-called Homeland Security director Michael Chertoff. This mal-nutritioned, anemic, skinny Frankenstein idiot has to go. Actually the so-called “Homeland Security” model is nothing but a waste bucket which has served no purpose whatsoever. It is broken and never really had a chance of being a useful instrument in the first place. Whose dumb idea was this anyway?

 

MICHAEL CHERTOFF – YOU’RE FIRED. Now get the hell out of my office. And go eat something, you look like walking death.  

 

Thank God for General Russell Honore. I could be wrong, but I think GeneralHonore is the one person who has held closest to FEMA and RED CROSS rescue. It would appear he is the only one who is getting anything done. He seemsto be one of those people who calls it as he sees it. Some may like it, some may not, but you know where he stands. Disclaimer: I hope I don’t haveto eat these words, but he seems authentic to me.

 

Regarding the most reckless statements ever produced by someone in crisis management “we didn’t expect this to happen”; is nothing less than an out-right LIE. When I first heard this last week my jaw dropped in disbelief. I could not believe my ears, and this coming from all “three stooges” Bubba, Brown and Chertoff. 

 

Folks, I assure you everyone in the field of emergency management knew thiscould happen. Contingency plans have been drawn up and rehearsed for the last few years. 

 

I must make one very important note…of all most likely disasters, the scenario of New Orleans would probably be the most difficult to address. This is due to such a large area being flooded and is indeed much more difficultto triage and cordon off than dry land; this includes nuclear or biological events. 

 

In 2001, FEMA warned that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the U.S. But the Bush administration cut New Orleans flood control funding by 44 percent to pay for the Iraq war. In early 2001, the Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a report stating that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the U.S., including a terrorist attack on New York City. But by 2003the federal funding for the flood control project essentially dried up as it was drained into the Iraq war.
