Re: Theos-World Hurricane Katrina - Why comes no help?

Dear friends,
I have been saddened and sickened by the misery and death that has
occurred in New Orleans. The hurricane was "an act of God" as they
say. So, I suppose that many in the town where I live will go to their
churches this Sunday and glorify Him for His infinite wisdom. After
all, 1/3 of the people in New Orleans live at the poverty level and
depend upon the welfare system to survive. And, it was primarily the
poor who are dead and dying from this tragedy. Since the hurricane hit
at the end of the month, most of these people had already spent their
allowance on food and rent. Many do not own cars, and those who do,
lacked the money to buy the Gasoline to leave, and they had no place to
go anyway. According to the Conservative Christian philosophy around
in my little town, God does not like the poor very much anyway. After
all, "anyone can get rich in America," and "anyone can be President."
These people were just too lazy to get rich and be President. It's
their own fault. So, in His infinite wisdom, God's justice has been
served.
On the other hand, it appears that the hurricane itself was not the main
problem. Hurricanes hit the Gulf coast every few years and New Orleans,
the oldest city, has survived more than any other city down there. It
appears that the disaster happened because the levees, which have been
sinking for decades, finally gave way. The Federal government has long
been aware of New Orleans' sinking levees, and Congress authorized funds
to be used to restore them. However, in 2003, the funds were cut and
diverted to finance the war in Iraq. The funds were never restored.
But, it appears that the Iraqi war was God's will too. When President
Bush was asked why he didn't follow his father's lead about leaving
Saddam in office, he replied that he answers to a "higher father."
In his infinite wisdom, God has apparently given us an opportunity to
test out the newly reorganized Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA, a branch of the Federal Department of Homeland Security). Well,
they didn't do so well. But no one suffered from their failure except a
bunch of poor folk, who God doesn't like very much anyway. I'm sure
that, in the future, if a disaster hits a wealthy community, God will
guide the workers to do everything right, and everyone will get prompt
and quality care.
The money originally slated for the Levees went to a better cause.
Thanks to God's advice to our esteemed President, we have an established
military presence through the center of Afghanistan, right where the
proposed Unocal Pipeline will be going. We also have bases set up in
Iraq, near the borders of Syria and Iran--ready for immediate invasion
of those countries whenever God commands. Praise be to the Lord in the
Highest! His kingdom on earth is coming soon, and Pat Robertson will be
there to announce it!
I will be on retreat this weekend to lower my blood pressure, smell the
pine trees, and commune with kinder and gentler gods. So, if you have
a response to this post, I won't be here to receive it. Sorry.
For any of you who might find difficulty seeing the point of my
admittedly acidly sarcastic post; I ask this question: Do you think it
might be remotely possible that our attitudes and beliefs (such as
pro-death penalty, lack of compassion for the poor, and exploitation of
minorities) might have something to do with the direction of American
policies, and how local governments respond?

It is the modern age. People want the needs assuaged immediately. These are same people who ignored warnings a good four days in advance that this was going to be a killer hurricane: A once in a lifetime event. Unlike many hurricanes it varied little from its predicted path. No matter who is in power, relief takes time.

I was also wondering why there is no help. At least in the news here it shows
all the time the victims complaining that the government did not send help, food
or medicine for them.

The hurricane destroyed a whole city.
They get no help by the Bush administration since days, although there was a
forewarning.
No prememptive strike, no Navy, no army standing in the back to be ready for
help ASAP.
The pictures of the destroyed cites in the New Orleans area remind a German
theosophist to similar domestic pictures of 1944-45, when Jewish-American
freedom and liberty bombed destroyed Germany's cities (BTW, Wurzburg
(Elberfeld), where HPB began to wirte her major work The Secret Doctrine was
the city which was with 95% the relatively most destroyed one).
The pictures of Berlin, Hambrg, Dresden, Cologne, Munich, Vienna, Pforzheim
etc. come to mind.
Although the Germans suffered physically, they remained unbroken
spiritually. The remedial actions worked. There was no chaos from within,
everyone worked for the public interest. Egoism was the exception. This
untold but remarkable behaviour is owed by the general high-mindedness of
the Germans and their high regards for virtues, which the governments of
Bismarck, Wilhelm II. and Hitler strengthened.
What is the reason that such chaos, looterings, murder, rape, rap in New
Orleans could happen?
Is it the general cultivation of the lower self? The every day appeal to
outsmart your neighbour, your colleagues?
No doubt, if such a cataclysm would happen in the Germany of today, I have
no doubt that we would see the same pictures on tv.
But the spiritual conditions were otherwise before the German soul was
killed.
One thing is certain: If that cataclysm would happen today on the German
coast and there were no help from the goverment since several days - the
chancellor would be kicked out of office by return.
Is not Theosophy and its appeal of Universal Brotherhood the spiritual
antidot for this outbursts of the lower self?
American patriot and theosophical Leader Katherine Tingley gave some
practical examples with their Sisters of Mercy and other first aid actions
to help victims of wars and cataclysms.
Where are the Theosophists of today?
The US Army has ordered a ban on leave for September. Is it that the new war
against Iran is in its last phase of preparation?
Was the Hurricane Katrina butting into the onrolling war machine and the GIs
on the way to Iran have to be redirected?
Is that the reason why the Bush government sent no troops to help the
Americans in New Orleans?
Because they are prepared to help (liberate) the Iranians?
Or is it that it concerns only a poor Southern state?
Do they just follow the Kissinger doctrine that they will get rid of the
poor, stupid mob?
Kissinger wants that 5 out of the 6 billions people of the world must be get
rid of by violence to have a paradise in the aftermath.
Do the New Orleaners die for the sake of the One World conspiracy?
Questions over questions?
Who is able to answer?
