Re: Theos-World Re: Matter and Spirit are one

Dear Nigel,
I think we must agree to disagree, as, my reading sees that the Theosophist is saying

"to put it more clearly,
since Spirit and matter are one,
being the two opposite poles of the universal manifested substance"

Spirit and Matter are the two opposite poles of the SAME SUBSTANCE. As is Parabrahman and mulaprakriti. And the theosophist argues that only IN DIFFERENTATION is Spirit unable to claim that it is one with matter. However take away the differentiation and Spirit and Matter are one at the highest level. Perhaps at the lower level this cannot be claimed but the root cause appears to be of the same substance. I am referring to Primordial Matter (Mulaprakriti) and Primordial Spirit (Parabrahman) as being the same substance. Mulaprakriti being "worked on" by Akasa is the result of the will of Parabrahman upon Mulaprakriti and from Akasa life results. All emanating from the differentiation of itself. Parabrahman and Mulaprakriti are identical twins, different bodies but the same dna.

Which as Judge and Purucker tell us "Life or energy is what we may call Parabrahman; the substance side or vehicular side is mulaprakriti.

The theosophist does not deny that they are one, but that as matter is transient and spirit is permanent, spirit cannot be realised while encased in matter.

Perhaps this is where the misunderstanding has taken place, as I see All as One, at the highest level, which is what I think Blake meant when he said
Man has no body distinct from his soul; for that called body is a
portion of the soul discerned by the senses, the chief inlets of soul in this age.

Please excuse the CAPS, I am not trying to make a point, but merely trying to emphasise, and my computer will not underline or bold type it.

Another passage of interest perhaps from the Key.
"ENQUIRER. It follows, then, that there is, de facto, no man, but all
is Spirit?
THEOSOPHIST. You are mistaken. It thus follows that the union of
Spirit with matter is but temporary; or, to put it more clearly,
since Spirit and matter are one, being the two opposite poles of the
universal manifested substance -- that Spirit loses its right to the
name so long as the smallest particle and atom of its manifesting
substance still clings to any form, the result of differentiation. To
believe otherwise is blind faith.
ENQUIRER. Thus it is on knowledge, not on faith, that you assert that
the permanent principle, the Spirit, simply makes a transit through
matter?
THEOSOPHIST. I would put it otherwise and say -- we assert that the
appearance of the permanent and one principle, Spirit, as matter is
transient, and, therefore, no better than an illusion.

Its essence is mulaprakriti; and out in the abysmal spaces is
mulaprakriti, but also Parabrahman. P.91 Fountain source of occultism.
