It is impossible to recommend JUST ONE BOOK or
even two or three books (taken as a totality)
that give a fair, accurate, detailed
and comprehensive overview of the history
of the modern Theosophical Movement. Such a
book has not yet been written.
But for those interested in this subject and
interested in educating themselves in the pros and cons,
I given below a fairly comprehensive list of
titles.

Daniel, I simply must take the time to tell you how much I appreciate all
the tremendous amount of work you have done for us and theos-talk. Theosophy
itself is indebted to you; and to the many members of this forum who have
taken the time to pass along their insightful knowledge, I for one, am truly
grateful.
My time is quite limited, but I look forward to reading [and slowly
digesting] all of the contributions that you and the rest so generously make. I have
been virtually lurking since I began this list because there is so much to
read and think about.
