I just had a look at the reading list at the (Adyar) Theosophical 
Society in Australia's website:
And I have to say it looks like a pretty fair and even handed 
selection of titles imo.

C.W Leadbeater & Annie Besant still feature but not as much as I 
thought they would and the original writings are given the main 
prominence (on this list at any rate) as well as a good selection of 
books on related topics.
