I just looked at the Theosophical Society in America website, and the 
Adyar website. Leadbeater is not recommended at all as a beginners' 
source, and barely mentioned at all. In the Adyar site, I admit that in 
the recommended reading list, there are two books by him out of about 
14. I hardly call that "promoting his books." Can you document such 
promotion as you describe?
