And they never bother me at all.
You can write all the heresy you want but they do get a little weird if you
make them think too much. It gives them headaches.
The trick is to not let them get away with it. In the summer of 1987 my
first book on Psionics had been published and the orthodox were in an uproar!
(What I did not know at the time was I had reopened some old fears from one of
their scandals involving a national president in the 1960s.) Anyway, I
responded by bringing my book and my equipment to the convention at Lake Geneva and
and setting up shop as it were, giving demonstrations to anyone who was
interested, and a lot of people were interested because there is no such thing as bad
publicity.
After that, they just sort of shut up and got used to it.
But it was great fun while it lasted and it gave me one of my great lines
when one of the orthodox made the mistake of accusing me of practicing "Black
Magick." I just laughed and said that that was nonsense. I practiced Italian
Magick. As the poor devil fled sputtering I nearly fell over trying to keep
from laughing.
