question on 1st editions of Blavatsky's Secret Doctrine

Dear all,

I have a bibliographical question concerning the first edition of Blavatsky's Secret Doctrine. As far as I am aware, the first edition was issued in a dark blue cloth binding, with the TS symbols in gold printed on the front, and text in gold on the back.

But I have an edition apparently published in 1888, issued in 4 leather bindings, TS symbols on the fronts, and inside printed on thin bible paper, with the text on the pages, which are intersparsed with blank pages for personal annotations.

My question is: is this a special 1st edition? Is it a first edition? Is anybody aware of special editions of the 1st?

Kind regards,

Theo Paijmans
