I think that proselytizing or advertising ANY religion on this forum is a
direct violation of the theosophical principles, as well as a direct
contradiction of the non sectarian ideas promulgated by theosophy to which this forum is
specifically designed as a place for their discussion.
Theosophists do not need any personal God to worship, pray or chant to, or
any rituals to practice in accord with someone else's beliefs... Since, it's
teachings enjoins us each to practice whatever yoga or meditation we choose for
ourselves -- based on our own individual self devised and self determined study
and efforts to attain "Self realization."
In this light, "God" is simply the source of that spark of the universal
Self, Consciousness, or Spirit that resides within each of us, and needs no
propitiation to an external personalized "Lord" labeled as "Beneficent" and
"Merciful" that resides outside of us.
As each of us must become our own Judge and Master -- group prayer or
chanting to an external "Lord" serves only to reinforce that separateness -- which
theosophy teaches is the ultimate sin.
The object of theosophy, then, is to individually realize our unity with that
Universal Self -- of which we are already (although for some, unknowingly) an
integral part. This is he only way that "Universal Brotherhood" can become a
reality throughout the world without any distinctions, and bring together all
those who are now separated by their different religious beliefs and
practices.
