Dear Friend:

Can you let me have any references to HPB saying there are limits to what a
mind can understand? I think this is important.

As I understand it MAHAT is Universal Mind - MAHAT; and is the first
pre-evolutionary manifesting opening of the new evolutionary Manvantaras in
any and all cases.

It is allied of course to eternal KARMA and therefore the cycles of being
emerge along with the appropriate intelligences I a regular sequence (HPB in
the SECRET DOCTRINE gives this in the 1st volume.

In the case of Man (who is a direct emanation from MAHAT ) where does the
power to think end or begin?

What impedes thought?

I think, in most cases, our power to think has been self-restricted, or only
partly used. But if we call on it and are attentive, and focus, (meditate?)
then it unrolls in terms of universality, logic, and exactitude -- like
mathematics does, as we use, and force it to yield its great secrets.

Are there not two minds The Lower everyday brain-mind (Kama-Manas) and the
other the reflective, wise-mind (Buddhi-Manas). If the eternal human MONAD
is ATMA-BUDDHI-MANAS then Manas has no boundaries as it is rooted in ATMA,
And ATMA IS ALL.

As mind-units (Monads) in an enormous Universe (how the Hubble telescope
reveals this !) we are the eternal Pilgrims, reincarnating from body to new
and better bodies all the time as we mentally advance. We need never fear
"death." We never die and become "nothing."

But maybe I am in error. Advise.

Thanks and best wishes,

Dallas

This is the crux of the all our search for "understanding" the Ancient
Wisdom.

Every theosophist will benefit by keeping this in view all the time
at the back of our mind.

There is also a statement by HPB pointing out that there are limits to what
mind can understand.

Much of the wisdom lies in the regions beyond what mind can perceive and
understand.

Hence no written or oral communication can convey the real nature and
understanding of many of the facts in Nature. We all hope that each one of
us transform internally and understand and realize Ancient Wisdom, even if
they are the crumbs of it.
