RE: A few questions to Dallas

Dear Doss:

I have already posted a general answer to this. I tried to base it on
principles and not on opinions.

Organizations are either "props," or they enfranchise -- by saying plainly
to the aspirant, disciple -- you have to learn to sail the "Ocean Of
Samsara" on your own. Here is a chart. Use it.

True valiant soldiers for the good and the true train themselves. The start
is study and learning. This takes one to the center of things and the roots
of the Universe of LAW.

All is Karma ever moving every smallest Unit, (or large ones) on to ultimate
perfection of those individual Units -- who then voluntarily rejoin the
WHOLE as assistants, [Read the lat 6 pages of The VOICE OF THE SILENCE .]

That demands the present day, and hourly sacrifice of time and effort. The
result tells if the disciple is on a successful "path," or not. He will
know, as there is no "fooling" of the Budhi-Manasic perception or of the
immortal GOD, the ATMA within.

That is what the "original" message of THEOSOPHY is.

It rejoins the "divine immortals," the scattered UNITS of the corps of
Eternal Pilgrims. And having each one assured themselves of the actual
PRESENCE of one TRUTH they volunteer to help and eventually they rejoin,
without any loss of individual consciousness the WHOLE -- and thereafter, as
Mahatmas, they work "more diligently toward the perfection -- of ALL. Read
the MAHATMA LETTERS carefully. What do you see there?

It [THEOSOPHY ] is a modern restatement of ancient wisdom. How can it be
any different?

Its traces can be detected in every ancient scripture and religion if one
knows where to look (between the lines) -- that is why ISIS UNVEILED and
SECRET DOCTRINE were written.

Are we making ourselves worthy of it?

Are we benefiting in this incarnation and the fact that our Karma has
brought us this close to the time and effort of the re-promulgation of the
"Sanatana Dharma?" Who so you think the Mahatmas who stand behind the
THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY and the THEOSOPHICAL MOVEMENT are?

Do our Hindu friends know a living and incarnated Rishi when they see or
hear of Him? Has Kali Yuga entirely effaced their reverence?

They (the Mahatmas) do [through THEOSOPHY ] also draw attention to the fleet
of other disciple-navigators, and state that mutual efforts are valuable,
when shared without any expectation of any "reward." This is something Sri
Krishna emphasizes repeatedly in the BHAGAVAD GITA.

Why? Is it not because spiritual wealth alone can be transferred to future
incarnations?

No "organization" need to be apologised for. If it needs reform, then the
"members" who desire to sacrifice their time and efforts to purify and
refine it, are alone self-empowered by their selfless altruism to do so.
That helps others who may not see as far, or as deeply. If one appeals to
the HIGHER SELF (the inner ATMA) then what does it counsel?

Now what do you think HPB and the Mahatmas would think of the THEOSOPHICAL
SOCIETY (as an organization) if they had to "return" to it?

I am sure they are always assisting individuals who deserve Their attention.

Best wishes,

Dallas

I think this is the greatest effect of study of Theosophy on an individual.
One can see for oneself the independent thinking and decision making that
takes place over a period of time.

However, when one belongs to a group or organization and when one is
looking forward to any kind of "reward" from the group, either now or
hereafter, the independence can be compromised.

Since many get introduced to theosophy through theosophical groups, with
each group having their priorities as to what to read and the predominance
of personalities, it does take time, some times years, before one
recognizes the need to be independent and acts on it.

Internet is playing a silent yet a very important role in this process of
helping individuals in this process.

Look what we have on this maillist.

Here we have individuals who belong to or belonged to one or more of the
theosophical organizations or none of the organizations and interested in
Theosophy discussing various issues on a level ground with no geographical
or any other boundaries.

On an organizational level, I have rarely seen cooperation between groups
even on events such as White Lotus Day even though every theosophist knows
that all the knowledge we have about theosophy is predominantly due to her
writings and sacrifices.
