There are simple ways of faking a psychic performance. The simplest
is to plant someone in the audience, whom the psychic then "reads"
for. I heard an astonishing demo on the radio in which a woman
called in, and the psychic (also a woman) said "Wait, don't tell me
what you want to ask. I'm the psychic and I will tell you." The
psychic then proceeded to give an incredible performance, not only
answering questions unasked, but accurately reading the caller's mind
in other ways. The caller, of course, was what they call a "ringer,"
someone in cahoots with the psychic. The radio station had a
switchboard operator who kept others from getting through. There is
also a simple trick used by some preachers in which the psychic holds
a sealed envelope to his forehead, answers the question contained on
a letter sealed within it, then opens the envelope and verifies that
he read the letter correctly. The way the trick is done, of course,
is that the envelope opened does not contain the question just
answered but the NEXT question to be answered. The psychic has
therefore already read the letter he is answering each time. One
fellow wore what appeared to be a hearing aid but was actually a
radio receiver, through which he could receive messages from his
handlers, etc.
I was introduced to a "psychic" one time, and, desiring to know if he
is a muscle reader, deliberately relaxed totally. He then put his
hands to his templed, grimaced, and told me I was "blocking" his
psychic power. Bullshit. He just could not read me and play me. I
also went to a psychic fair and was told the same thing by two
different psychics. I was impressed until I discovered that all the
psychics in the room told the same thing to everyone who walked in.
All of these are very simple tricks but they do gull the credulous.
I did meet what appeared to be a real psychic at a Silva support
group. This was not a pro, but merely someone who had worked with
the Silva Method for some time. I told the lady nothing, and she
accurately related everything that had happened to me for the past
year.
As far as George Bush not knowing anything about Shi'a Islam, what
DOES George Bush know anything about? Have you ever heard of
anything? I suggested to one of his admirers that he at least knows
his ass from his face and was told I was giving him too much credit.
