Re: Cycles
Dear Andre:
Thanks for the references and the calculations. They are very interesting.
I will take some time to review them.
It occurs to me that HPB has cautioned us in several places not to place too
much reliance on calculations based on our present / recent historical time
as apparently there are a number of very ancient cycles that interact and
make for changes we do not have figures for. In the SD there is only one
place where a "to-the-second" time is given [S D I 662-3; ]
As to the "Ben-ben" (Lunar ?) stone I have no references at present to
offer. [Where did you secure yours? - I don't have it.]
My opinion has been: the vacant area on the top of the Pyramid may be a
metaphysical (?) space provided -- the significance of which maybe likened
to the SECRET DOCTRINE diagram on Vol. I, p. 200 (where no information is
given about the superior triangle).
I am quite sure that calculations solely based on our physical plane (or
Zodiacal) chronology may not fully equate with the total evolutionary
scheme including therein those 6 superior ones (and presently, to us,
invisible and intangible) .
[S D I 370-8;
S D II 9-11, 49, 66-70, 148-9, 153, 307fn, 395, 435, 437-8, 520, 564, ]
I also believe that the ratio of various vibrations is involved -- but have
not determined what that would be in "reality." Also, given time and need,
we will develop a perceptive ability to perceive and use those.
[S D I 118fn, 307, 507-8, 514fn, 562-3, 587,
S D II 628, ]
I notice that one of the curious qualities of theosophical teaching centers
very positively around the application that a student / learner may make of
his information. It has to be for the general good. It cannot be held as a
selfish possession, nor can it be wielded for the constraint of others as a
dangerous magician or a mad scientist might.
In other words, the acquisition of knowledge includes the mastery of the
selfish inclinations and in fact their transformation into benevolent powers
to be used to help and benefit others. Any "vice" in our characters is to be
identified, and then by will, transformed into a corresponding "virtue," if
we expect Nature to share her 'secrets' with us. But, it these require
"time" in which we may develop and be refined -- so "reincarnation" becomes
a necessity -- if my work is to prosper and not entirely disappear. I find
that the Theosophical philosophy and its doctrines includes this aspect of
continuing consciousness, and it avers that every living being (atoms,
worlds, men included) is rooted in an immortal and eternal, basic reality of
its own.
The proces of evolution (which includes everything) has been therein
compared to a school, and each "life-time," as a "day" in that eternal
"school." If this is correct, any review of past cycles is like an attempt
to secure some idea of what we have done in past lives? Or, am I wrong?
As I understand it, our present duty is to sharpen our abilities and develop
our attention in regard to the needs and duties of our present condition,
and that which involves us (under Karma) with many individual entities --
humanity and others Like the "Life-atoms" that surround and continually pass
through us.
For example we are told a good deal about the astral plane and its entities,
some of which are barely perceptible. To spend time to work on, and aspire
to a deeper knowledge, is good when the time and the need and our karma
provides the opportunity. We need to decide what is the most important.
But, whatever the choice, the effect of our effort will be felt throughout
our entire living, 7-fold "home."
I read, for instance, "THE ELIXIR OF LIFE." [FIVE YEARS OF THEOSOPHY, p.
1] and, I am awakened by statements made therein to the fact that I have
been unaware of changes and events proceeding interiorly in me -- just as I
am unaware of a myriad of minute changes (constantly occurring) in my
physiological form -- as witness the continual repair to various physical
structures. How are those guided? What intelligence functions there? Why
am I so ignorant of those events?
I like to think of my residence therein as that of a bumbling tenant,
entrusted with a magical tool -- a physical body, that is almost omnipotent
in regard to its own welfare -- in which I dwell, and of which I know
comparatively very little. Further, I have almost no idea how it is
practically supported and kept functional on a moment to moment basis. How
does it maintain and repair itself, for instance? (Theosophy says the
astral body is entrusted with this task under the guidance of "Prana" the
life-currents, and is a kind of electro-magnetic lattice work -- and that is
the area in which the atoms participate. (HPB -- "PSYCHIC AND NOETIC
ACTION" -- HPB Articles, Vol. II, p. 7) So, would there be, added to our
physical "time," a corresponding and inter-related "astral time," and
"astral time cycles," --- etc .. ?)
My Mind, and my tendency (emotional, psychological?) to inquire and be
curious about this environment and those that THEOSOPHY says co-exist with
the mere physical, leads me to believe that there is a deep harmony afoot
and active in my being, and my present focus ought to be on knowing and on
controlling the Mind and my emotional self. And leave the rest to the
working powers residing in me loaned for use there by Nature. Of these I
read that Buddhi represents the "wisdom aspect" of seven-fold Nature and
seven-fold Man [S D I 157; II 596 ]
You might say this requires a great deal of trust, and I would agree. But
so far as I have detected the Nature powers (in and around me) are not
inimical, but are supportive of my corporate individual life. In fact they
organize a large part of my co-habitation with other humans and physical
beings and substances -- they handle air, water, food, heat control, and a
multitude of other factors.
But in the range of human relations they defer to us, as a superior
"Mental-stage" consciousness. The equally curious thing is that we do not
yet quite know what "WE," this Mental being, is. How did it evolve? Why is
it mixed up with a psychological maze of emotions, and, why does it need a
physical body? What are its powers? Where is it going?
I know a few things, and am learning to think, but there is a vast concourse
of facts I still need to learn about -- including the matter of time, cycles
and history.
Yes, I would agree that the SECRET DOCTRINE and THEOSOPHICAL literature
gives us scattered hints. Some of us have developed through interest and
effort a faculty that is able to assemble some of those, and make of them a
coherence. In this effort, we seek by comparing what we have developed as
"our opinions" with those that other thinkers have concluded.
To me, this reinforces the fact that THEOSOPHY, taken as a whole, is not
inaccurate, but suggests that there have and are proven answers and
conclusions to all that I have so vaguely outlined above.
Each of us has his / her own particular ability and duty, and we can share
those or compare them with others -- who have similar interests and are
sensitive to some of the deeper aspects of our continuing lives, here, and
in, I expect, in future incarnations.
My study of "The VOICE OF THE SILENCE" inclines me to place great value on
the mater of "self-devised, individual, practical virtue."
In other words, as a group of immortals, we are evolving with all the rest,
and as such, our "brotherhood" is very real. How now, do we take firmer
control of this? As already said, one of the aspects of this is sharing
with others, testing our discoveries and opinions, and simultaneously,
developing and practising a profound caring for their welfare, and what we
may be able to contribute to that.
See if this makes any sense to you, let me know, please.
Best wishes,
Dallas

Dear Dallas,
I thank you again for the information given by you.
I'm sorry not being able to respond right now, ...
Secondly, all calculations i made are in Dutch and have to be translated by
me, for you to be able to understand.
However i think that we can be conclusive on the the great precessional
period, for it is stated:
(a) [Lucifer, Vol. I, No. 3, November, 1887, pp. 173-180]
"There are several remarkable cycles that come to a close at the end of this
century. First, the 5,000 years of the Kaliyuga cycle; again the Messianic
cycle of the Samaritan (also Kabalistic) Jews of the man connected with
Pisces
(Ichthys or "Fish-man" Dag). It is a cycle, historic and not very long, but
very
occult, lasting about 2,155 solar years, but having a true significance only
when computed by lunar months. It occurred 2410 and 255 B.C., or when the
equinox entered into the sign of the Ram, and again into that of Pisces.
When it
enters, in a few years, the sign of Aquarius, psychologists will have some
extra work to do, and the psychic idiosyncrasies of humanity will enter on a
great
change". [THE ESOTERIC CHARACTER OF THE GOSPELS, H P B Articles III, p.
169 fn ]
(b) "Collected Works: BLAVATSKY, XIII, ANCIENT ASTRONOMY. THE GREAT
PYRAMID, p. 321
[The Manuscript of this Fragment in H.P.B.'s handwriting exists in the Adyar
Archives. It consists of three sheets which have been transcribed and
originally published in The Theosophist, Vol. LXXXV, No. 2, November,
1963.-Compiler.]
Astronomist of the same age, was the first to prove that, if we take the
pyramid's cubits, and multiply the number thereof in a base side of the
Pyramid by
the number fifty, and increase the result in proportion as the base Diagonal
exceeds the measures of the side, the sum comes out in the number of years
in
the great precessional period.
(c) BLAVATSKY: COLLECTED WRITINGS, Vol. XIII, p. 384
"But mark this! The cave was the birthplace of the Solar Messiah from the
year
2410 to the year 255 B.C.; at which later date the Solstice passed out of
the
Sea-Goat into the sign of the Archer; and no Messiah
Thus, with mathematics and astronomy to help us, it has been demonstrated
that Jesus could not have been born December 25, 255 years later; the
Precession
of the Equinoxes, or the Sidereal increment forbids it."
The Zodiac would then be (for a random period):

Capricornus 4.056
Further I have linked many dates/events (glacial periods, floods, etc.) with
this cycle which seem to be consistent with given dates in IU, SD, etc.
(Like
Beginning of Golden Age,
Beginning of Egyptian civilazation,
the Atlantis of Plato, etc.
- and also linked to measurements of the Great Pyramid and data
from "Key to the Hebrew-Egyptian Mystery in the Source of Measures". I will
come back later on this.
By the way, as you probably know, the top of the Great Pyramid is missing,
and by making all my calculations and investigations, i'm (in an intuative
way)
convinced that it was a Benben Stone, representing the Moon, as the Pyramid
itself has its relation to the Moon. Do you have any information about that?
Best regards,
André K
