Their exercises do work, although you have to work with some of them 
persistently to get results. I saw some really amazing things when I 
was a member. It is desirable to join one of their lodges and visit 
consistently since you will see and learn interesting things from 
their members. Their entire correspondence course takes about 17 
years to complete, although I think you get through the meat of it 
when you complete the 12th degree.

One thing that should be said is that they are into specifically 
psychic development. They admit their methods do not lead to 
enlightenment for most people. If that is your goal you might want 
to explore something like Zen.
