I'm inclined to believe that it varies with the individual spirit, 
that we participate more fully in the process of arranging 
our "vehicle" and our karma the more, um, I'll just have to say 
vaguely "spiritually advanced" we are. I don't think we have to be 
adepts to be capable of contributing to that, but I think being 
hardened materialists tends to be crippling in that 
way. 
I've heard of that Kardec guy, is there anything of his that's 
especially impressed 
you?
