Hi, Eldon:
That comment was made by another list member a year or so ago but not
by me. Here is what I realy think:
I don't think Bush wanted to destroy Iraq, merely to get its oil
money. Everything he has done thus far has been consistent with that.
It has been reported in the news that if pacemakers had never been
invented, or had been outlawed in a timely manner, none of this
probably ever would have happened. It's too late now.
It has been reported in the news that the Iraqi people arefee up with
his shenanigans and are fghting to get him and his people out.
It has been reported on the news that European governments could
protect their citizens by merely withdrawing from Iraq.
It has been further reported that European governments have turned
their nose up at the idea of protecting their citizens, presumably on
the theory that the leaders are safe.
Now I don't think Bush drinks enough to motivate Gordon's Gin to
order that British foreign policy be pro-Bush. Why Blair would want
to endanger his own people to placate Bush is a mystery to me.
If I were a European I would be howling at my elected officials to
abandon the drunk and get out, declare solidarity with the Iraqi
people, and make my country safe from terrorism. It may be that
nobody in Europe sees any wisdom in that view.
I don't think so.
As for monsters, remember what Nietzscje said (from memory):
"Take care when dealing with monsters that you do not become a
monster. For when you stare into the abyss, the abyss also stares
into you."
We become 3what we hate, in other words. I notice my eyebrows
becoming more and more Bushy.
