They would never screw in the light bulb themselves. They'd rather leave it to the initiative of their chelas to see the need, take the initiative, and act to bring light into the world. That way the disciples earn the karma of the good deed. How many chelas does it take to screw in a light bulb? 1. Seven, because that is a very theosophical number. 2. None, because no one could find instructions in THE SECRET DOCTRINE. 3. One, because after the One there was light. 4. None, because none of the group could climb the ladder and assume an position more elevated than his brethren. 5. Two, one as Outer Head to give the order and the other to obey and do the work. 6. None, because they were all too busy considering how their desire to put in a new bulb was based upon some deep-seated fear. 7. One (invisibly), as a bored invisible helper without any work for the night, doing double duty as a poltergeist. 8. None, because in New York City, the law says it requires a member of the electricians union, and theosophists never break the law. 9. None, since the student was really an Alice Bailey student, and did not deem a light bulb necessary when there's the "point of light within the mind of God" to light the way. 10. One (the survivor), after a protracted battle between rival theosophical clans over the right to put forth their most true light bulb before the world. 11. None, because a Zen student had simply done it, while the group of theosophical students were studying the instruction manual. 12. None, because by the time anyone noticed there was a problem, the memberships of all the theosophical groups had dwindled to zero and a post-post-modernist recognized a literal reality (the needed bulb) and acted on it. -----Original Message----- From: Tony [mailto:alpha@dircon.co.uk] Sent: Tuesday, April 06, 2004 12:08 PM To: theos-talk@yahoogroups.com Subject: RE: Theos-World Masters? Why would they want to do that? They don't need them. The light comes from within.
