hi Kris

Good day !

Long since I mailed u !

One of my pal started speaking "well, I am worthless - I am useless..." &
after a couple of years, he has lost his confidence and strikes a negative
tone.

When introspected, he told that he spoke like this out of humility and to
defeat ego !

I was surprised and still not able to sustain the fact that what he did was
a self goal / depreciation. He keeps saying that when there is no self
(ego), there cannot be a self depreciation ! I am helpless - can u help me
put him back on track ?

Sorry for the trouble !

Cheers !
Raghu

Would you permit a small note of humor?
This reminds me of what someone once told me.
The friend said to him, "Cheer up! Things could get worse!"
and
sure enough...
things got worse.

The theosophical idea of skhandas seems to come in to play here.
