Yes; and now we are in the midst of a conflicting
people, of an obstinate, ignorant people seeking to
know the truth, yet not able to find it for each seeks
it only for his own private benefit and gratification,
without giving one thought to others…”
M (Mahatma Letters)

Racism have got a long history into human society and
it’s based on avidya, (ignorance) and fear. Through
history we can see the need to form groups, religions,
to build systems gravitating around common interests.

When one of this several manifestations into the human
society becomes stronger results in segregation from
others and in an open, underground, or even
sub-conscious process of self-importance and
uniqueness.

Every group is built upon the believe that they are
better than others, of course a believe that reflects
the self still immersed into Maya. Very few are those
that can get rid of Maya’s chains and to understand
that the well being of one can’t be isolated from the
well being of all.

Of course to reach such point one have to go through
the most terrible battle, facing our great enemy,
which is our own self. This as Krishna mentions is the
hardest path and is what Bhagavad-Gita is all about.
Our inner enemies, hidden demons, fears and shadows
once they wake up, it can lead us into our ruin or
great glory. The result is unknown! Not only, very few
are those that can start this journey. This is a very
well emphasised in the whole range of the Theosophical
literature, as well, in the heart of several religious
and philosophical systems.

The racism is an expression of the self, still
revolving deformed performances within human
ignorance! Many in the society were and still are
victims of racism: Jewish people have been during
different periods of history persecuted, women, black
people, immigrants, members of different religious
systems, the very system of cast in the Hinduism is an
expression of a cruel racism etc, etc, etc.

I agree that within a theosophy list expressions of
racism shouldn't be allowed, but are the theosophists
able do not express racism and intolerance in their
every day life?

It's easy to detect racist thoughts when expressed
against a religious group, but can we detect
expression of racism and intolerance that we may
express into our every day life toward others?

As we know to be a theosophist it's a task that
requires deep inner changes, H.P.B mentioned about it
in many of her writings:

THE GOLDEN STAIRS

A clean life, an open mind,
A pure heart, an eager intellect,
An unveiled spiritual perception,
A brotherliness for all,

A readiness to give and receive advice and
instruction,
A loyal sense of duty to the Teacher,
A willing obedience to the behests of TRUTH,
Once we have placed our confidence in,
And believe that Teacher to be in possession of it;

A courageous endurance of personal injustice,
A brave declaration of principles,
A valiant defence of those who are unjustly ATTACKED,
And a constant eye to the ideal of human progression
And perfection which the secret science depicts-

These are the golden stairs
Up the steps of which the learner may climb
To the Temple of Divine Wisdom

H.P.Blavatsky

The fellow here that in his daily life practice such
principles, may trow the first stone. It's easy to
criticize what it's obvious, it is not easy to look
within and to see in which level we act and sometimes
we may committe worst acts of racism and intolerance
than an emotional anti-semitic email?

I agree with a fellow here that mentioned that many
persons within this list have changed for better their
point of view. I think this is our challenge with
patiente and endurance to try to bring light where
there is darkness, and this will be made not excluding
those that think in a different way, but helping them
to see the light.
