Ali, you commented several postings ago:
". . . if the "membership of Theosophy" can't see the
direct 'mantle-passing" of Isis and Secret Doctrine
to Bailey's compendium as plain on the noses on their
faces, I personally can't see any theosophy in the
theosophists."
I assume you believe YOU CAN SEE the "direct
'mantle-passing'", right?
But other persons have also claimed the
"direct 'mantle-passing'".
See a list of names at:
http://blavatskyarchives.com/latermessengers.htm#six
See the 13 numbered statements.
And I'm sure that followers of all of these other
persons would claim something similar to what
you claim above in your quoted statement for their
"teacher".
Do you believe, Annie Besant and
C.W. Leadbeater, had "direct 'mantle-passing'", TOO?
Or .... I could take each name on the list.
If you say "no" about any of these persons, I would
like to know by what criteria you made your decision.
This is quite a task you're assigning me, Daniel. Porquoi?
Your comments suggest from your perspective these
things should be as obvious to all of us as the noses
on our faces. Therefore I would like to understand
how you arrived at your decisions concerning some of
these above-named individuals.
Daniel
That's an excellent question. I suppose I could 'critique' the names you've
listed that I'm familiar with and offer my opinion. But your last question
is really what's more relevant and interesting- essentially, "how do we
parse the wheat from the chaff?"..no? It gets right to the heart of matters
that concern all of us as seeker, namely "who're the truth-tellers and
who're the (no-good, dirty, rotten spamming) liars in the village of
truth-tellers and liars?"
This references an old riddle my psychoanalyst father used to pose to me-
the traveller passing in the middle of a stormy night through a village
wishes to know the route to Nantes, say. Quite the esoteric fable, isn't it?
Who are the true teachers, and who are the liars?
We have our inborn (karmic) likes and dislikes- cultural, emotional, mental,
familial, etc. Then, there is the truth. What instruments do we have of
ascertaining and pursuing 'truth'? Simply put, only that still voice of
inner intuition, no? And of course, there's the rub. It's not a mentated
thing, is it? You've experience enough with your inner Christ-self to agree
with that, I reckon? You just "know".
But, then, how does one get hooked up to that pipeline so that one may make
'right' decisions? Again, Blavatsky has given quite a few hints and
descriptions. But I have my own way of describing a quality I see in all the
truth-tellers, including HPB and missing in all the liars. Call it
sublimated desperation or obsession, if you will. You can see it in
Blavatsky's eyes. And it's not a martyr complex.
At some point (early) in their 'search for truth', those whom I have
recognized as being serious students of truth were desperate to the point of
sacrificing their own life for some truth. Not someone who had an
inadvertent NDE, mind you, but a conscious decision that life is not worth
living without truth. To me, that is a direct invocation of one's Atmic self
that one is tired of playing games, and ready to get serious. If it entails
giving up one's life, so be it. This is ultimately personal, and at this
point in one's path, often very difficult as one is usually quite fixated on
the physical. It's not supposed to be easy.
Since the gate of life and death is the lens between our waking
consciousness and our Atmic consciousness, as I see it- such a vow will
result in the inner eye being enabled in terms of better "seeing" truth and
falsehood in the world. Therefore you will see "Legions" of sincere seekers
following hypocrites and humbugs to eventual disappointment, or sometimes
sincere 'servants' who wish to be of service, so they 'fudge' things a tiny
bit....etc,etc. and all imaginable scenarios in between. It's a sliding
scale, isn't it? You'll see dishonest students close to true teachers, also.
When it gets down to it, it's very simple. We are born and we die. And our
lives are a blink. No one else does the dying or the borning for us.
Everything else is basically a diversion, our likes and dislikes, habits-
they're of no consequence to the Spirit.
It is up to us to find our truth in that context, but if we can see in that
context, truth will quickly reveal itself. in my experience.
regards-
Ali
