hi
good day !
Would like to write about ego - the thirst for recognition among the same
species !
Self possesiveness - The root of ego - The urge for respect / recognition /
kudos / fame - is the worst possession in one's life.
Well, this guy with self possessiveness fails to realise that this body is
just a shell, which houses his atma. The body, the name... are mere
representatives / agent of our atma, the real self. The body will cease to
be after some time (years) & within this span, the creature of homo sapiens
crave for such recognition to their shell- (just imagine a turtle, seeking
a good design on it's shell , wouldn't we call it a bozo ?) - that he fails
to see through the veils of maya. He is blind to truth.
The base of being happy is disowning everything - including self - this is
what was taught by Buddha ! Sad that most guys don't realise this - they
call themselves by name, caste, creed and religion and everything has got to
have a good identity - & the company they work for, has to be a blue chip
multinational, their wives have to be the most beautiful, bank account
flowing with money, when they barge into a club with their wives, people
should simply surround them (social status !), go in a posh car, reside in a
posh locality... This self possesiveness (ego) blossoms out into greed /
sadism ...
And the irony is u become casual and carefree, when u rid yourself of this
possesiveness & PEOPLE START RESPECTING U, FROM THEN ON ! When u craved for
recognition, possessing yourself, u would have found that the creature of
homo sapiens were not very comfortable being with u & it is the other way,
when u disown ego. Expecting recognition and getting recognition are like
like poles of a magnet - they repel each other ! Go towards it, it recedes ,
turn away from it, it gets stuck to u - that is respect / recognition /
money / fame - & the mirage of ego !
It is not worth a penny, buddy - don't waste your time / energy and money on
it ! Simply, b'cos "u r not", as quoted in Bhagvad Gita ! Only, your atma is
!
