Apolonius of Tyana is also mentioned in this book

« Mais, parlant de la memoire du sage le plus important, du mage
(one of The Magi of) du neo-pythagorisme – Apollonios de Tyane -- ,
Philostrate introduit le nome de Simonide. » Speaking of the memory
the most important of the Magi of neo-pythagorianism, Apollonius of
Tyana…continuing with something from his life :
a man named Euxeme asked Apollonius why he had not yet written
anything, while he had many noble thoughts and he was able to
express them clearly and easily ; Apollonius answered him : because,
at the present, I am not practicing silence. And from that day he
decided to be silent, or mute. And he did not say another word
rather his eyes and his spirit registered everything and deposited
them in his memory.

Even a hundred years later Simonade would sing a hymn to the glory
of his memory, in which he said that all things are erased with time
but the memory makes time itself unerasable and immortal.

Translation continued…In the course of his travels, Apollonius had
gone to India and he had a convesation with a brahman who had said
to him « I notice that you have an excellent memory Apollonius, and
it is the goddess (deesse) that we honor the most. » Apollonius then
studied with this brahman astrology and divination ; the brahmin
then gave him 7 rings, on which were engraved the names of the 7
planets and Apollonius had the habit of carrying these around with
him and changing them every day of the week.

Comment: That's where it ended. I think it is interesting that
Apollonius is mentioned and I have just found some copy from HPB's
collected letters that I was going to share in which she also
mentions Apollonius, post later. I had no idea that this was the
basis of the greatness of Apollonius. It goes back again to my love
and Blavatsky's love of the Classics. It is all there folks in those
writings of the Masters who lived and wrote then and whose writings
have MADE the Western world what it is today.

It is interesting to note in HPB's letters that in the glossary they
mention Apollonius and his fame being that he traveled and studied
in India. And what does one study of such importance in India?
Astrology and divination of course. It is also no coincidence that
one of the greatest books of the Bible Revelation is based on
future, but it is found throughout the Bible if one has read it
carefully.
