no letters after HPB's death

I think I've found the origin of the idea that no more contact with
the masters could be expected after HPB's death. Mrs. Alice Leighton
Cleather wrote the following in "H.P. Blavatsky A Great Betrayal", p
20, Calcutta 1922 (as quoted in Theosophical History, october 1985,
p. 115)

She wrote:
>> Let me here declare what I believe to be the real truth; namely
that after H.P. Blavatsky's death in 1891, neither Mrs. Besant, nor
Mr. Judge, nor Colonel Olcott nor anyone else, could 'communicate'
because H.P.B.'s withdrawal meant the withdrawal of her Masters as
well.>>

Personally I think it is a rather strange thought that the mere death
of a person would stop the Mahatmas, if they wanted to communicate. I
mean, finding another vehicle for communication might be difficult,
but not impossible, one would think.
