Re: H P B Theosophy on Free Will and Duality as perspective

Dear M. and friends:

If it is possible for us to think of (and discuss) the difference
between truth and falsehood, between reality and illusion,
between a disciplined and self-controled life, and a chaotic,
unregulated one, -- does that not imply a duality of outlook
interior to our consciousness ?

Do we not have two sets of tools available to the single
perception of the indwelling OBSERVER present in each one of
us -- the ATMA --SPIRIT ? The ONE sees "two."

Does not every question or observation add to the depth of
perception of the ONE within us ?

Still further if there is this duality that gives
"depth-perception" or "perspective" to ordinary sight, then why
should not the Mind be also able to do this? Perhaps this lets
us secure an approach to the mystery of the "Higher" and the
"Lower" Mind ?

How is it that there are rumors concerning the "Heart" and the
"Head" doctrines? How is it possible to have a "Higher" and a
"lower" Mind, the difference between the two being an attunement
of the "Higher" with the UNIVERSAL MIND ?

How to resolve these questions ?

Best wishes,

Dal

I wonder if "lower" and "higher" might, alternately, (or
"Alternately," from a "Higher" perspective) be seen as somewhat
equally mayavic, (ie, as essentially mayavic as the
dualistic/multiplistic "free will" of "ordinary reality"), along
with
a conditioned or worldview-related "contrast"
("interpretive"/karmic variant) that might be theoretically known
as "unfree will" (?)...
