Re: MAHATMA LETTERS
Dear M N and Friends:
Following my study from day to day as events develop I noticed
one of the Master's Letters being designated as "so-called." I
wondered why.
If we can understand that our evolution has for basis the
purification and rectifying of the Kamic nature in each of us,
then honesty, and truthfulness are a prime requisite. This leads
to discrimination. Discrimination demands caution in explaining
all things. How does a full professor deal with a freshman? He
appoints a suitable tutor, so as to being the understanding of
the undergraduate up to a level where his instructions and time
can be better spent.
If one tries to discover the course of and the practice of old of
"Initiation," one comes across a great deal of general and
superficial information. There is to be noticed a curious
reluctance to enquire into motive -- to discover the basis on
which anything is said or presented. Is it true? Can we really
rely on it? But, without a universal and invulnerable basis --
something any one can grasp this cannot be done. I mentioned
HONESTY. The world and the universe operate on lines of that
kind of operative brotherhood which is severely honest, and
therefore true to every MONAD of which the universe is composed.
This is the root of brotherhood. It is also the root of truth
and of Karma. It is the basis of our own self-control and our
self-guided evolution.
However there are facts relating to Natures operations that would
be dangerous if prematurely reveled to some;. Hence those who
are wise observe silence and secrecy in regard to certain
subjects. H P B used once the illustration of giving a child a
lighted candle in the environment of a powder factory.
One of the methods employed is by silence to allow an incautious
investigator to mislead himself. In this the basic secrecy is
preserved. If one considers all the information that Science and
investigative discoverers OVER LOOK, one becomes aware of the
defenses that Nature and her servants, the Masters practice. The
MAHATMA LETTERS has a number of examples of this.
Our science is so materialistic it is unwilling to consider a
hidden cause for the phenomena it observes. And anything
relating to that is swept aside into a "dust-bin." Hopefully it
will be forgotten. Here are examples of innumerable hints that
are forgotten. Whereas they are in fact vital. They lead to the
finding of forces that underlie physical events and relicts found
in odd places.
In true Occultism (Theosophy), where Karma the universal law of
honesty prevails, no lie or deception is tenable and especially
not from those who teach and promulgate it.
The reference below will b found in MAHATMA LETTERS (Barker
Edn.) p. 272.. It is in Letter XLVIII and Mr. Sinnett recoded
its receipt at Allahabad March 3rd 1882. It is on deposit at the
BRITISH MUSEUM And it bears the same qualities of physical
appearance and embedded characters as all do.
I fail to understand how it can be characterized as "so-called"
If one desires to pursue this subject in MAHATMA LETTERS it forms
the beginning of an important study. One could start with the
INDEX and pursue the statements that describe the Masters
profound regard and care of H P B. But this did not exclude
their honesty with each other, and the fact that working together
for the cause of the ONE TRUTH, they had to speak plainly to each
other, and of each other in thee case errors occurred.
Is occultism and Theosophy honest and truthful in reporting KARMA
as the underlying rule of LAW in all things ?
Best wishes,
Dallas

Hi all of you,
My views are only views:
The following is a well meant attempt to extend the views in the
mentioned
link about Cults and their teachers....
1.
One thing I did'nt find in the below link was, that within
Theosophy it is recognized, that if it is necessary, a teacher
may lie or degrade himself or herself.
There is a socalled Mahatma Letter from Morya on that and about
Blavatsky (as The Old Woman).
http://www.theosociety.org/pasadena/mahatma/ml-47.htm (1882)
"You know K.H. and me -- buss! know you anything of the whole
Brotherhood
and its ramifications? The Old Woman is accused of
untruthfulness,
inaccuracy in her statements. "Ask no questions and you will
receive no
lies." She is forbidden to say what she knows. You may cut her to
pieces and
she will not tell. Nay -- she is ordered in cases of need to
mislead people;
and, were she more of a natural born liar -- she might be happier
and won
her day long since by this time. But that's just where the shoe
pinches,
Sahib. She is too truthful, too outspoken, too incapable of
dissimulation:
and now she is being daily crucified for it. Try not to be hasty,
respected
Sir. The world was not made in a day; nor has the tail of the yak
developed
in one year. Let evolution take its course naturally -- lest we
make it
deviate and produce monsters by presuming to guide it."
