Mauri,
No, as far as I know the "Footprints" are still permanently embedded
in the
sandstone where we saw them. My perception is that they were ancient as
they
had had to have been made when the ground was not yet sandstone and
still soft
to who ever walked there and left the imprint of their foot steps there.
In time the
ground became sandstone. the footprints were double the size of my foot
(9 1/2 wide).
What was covered up by the rockfall was the "Egg shaped Oval" cavity in
the wall
face I commented on.
No, we did not have a camera with us at the time. The trip to Joshua
Tree was 140
miles from LA where we lived and making a trip all the way out there just
to see again
wasn't a high priority. Besides we figured the Joshua Tree Monument
Rangers and
others must have catalogued it long ago. As to them being "natural"
formations I
must sya they were distinct Footprints, analytically distinct.
By the way there is quite a bit about archaic "Giants" in America
besides the Grand Canyon Dallas mentioned. Try a www.google.com websearch, I
suggest "ancient
giants america" as keywords. There is a book titled: "America B.C." by
Barry Fell
1976 ISBN# 0-8129-0624-1 which though not devoted to the topic of Giants
makes
a stimulating read about possible ancient travelers to America. I have
seen photo's
of Menhirs in New England that are similar to what is found in England
and Brittany.
I have read published proclamations that Giants were siad to have been
found in a
of them but have never seen published photo's of the alleged "Giants,"
wish I had.
