I pointed out to Rich Taylor, who is an Orientak scholar, that
Blavatskty's comments on devachan seemed to me to be references to
the "Pure Land" idea and he said the literal meaning of "devachan"
was "Pure Land." Do that is where I got that from. Deva does indeed
mean "god" but in Buddhism the denizens of the heaven worlds are said
to be "gods". Thus if your dearly departed Aunt Ninny is in Heaven,
she would according to this nomenclature be a "goddess."

Yes, that is why I was saying that if one wanted to get an idea what
she would say is the "esoteric" interpretation of the "Pure Land" (if
she were here wuiith us) you might consider studying what she says
about "devachan."
