The Egyptian Civilization disappeared because religious fanatics
destroyed it. The Mayans disappeared because of greed and lack of
concern by a conquering nation. The civilization in North America,
however, was destroyed because the people were living too much in
"harmony" with nature, and were therefore caught defenseless against a
simple climatic shift (the same climatic shift helped cause the Black
Plague in Europe, which, while devastating to the population, barely
caused a blip in the civilization).
