Divine Avatars Maitreya Christ, Maitreya Buddha

The Service Of The Divine Avatars Maitreya Christ, Maitreya Buddha.

Reading the suggested books, you will find sparks. Place into one receptible
the fragments of reverence to Maitreya. Thus, over the face of the Earth I
Myself have laid the chips of the One Stone. A new miracle will bring the
nations together. Our Ray will expel doubt. (HR. LMG II, p 123)

120. When slavery, the shame of the World, is manifested, then one must
expect a change of epoch. Can one expect the advent of Maitreya to be
possible only in four hundred thousand years? Many times has confusion been
caused by mere words. It is impossible to imagine the Earth submerged in
darkness for another thousand of years. Just picture the progression of
evil! Therefore the most fierce Armageddon can be regarded as salvation.
The wise cannot but feel an anguish of the spirit. FWII.

Maitreya's is the Age of the Heart! Only with the heart can one evaluate the
treasures of Maitreya! Only with the heart can one understand how greatly
all acquisitions, all straight-knowledge are needed for the future.
(HR.H,74)

MAITREYA is the secret name of the Fifth Buddha, and the Kalki Avatar of the
Brahmins -- the last MESSIAH who will come at the culmination of the Great
Cycle. SDI. 384.

Esoteric philosophy teaches that the next Buddha will appear during the
seventh (sub) race of this Round. The fact is that Maitreya was a follower
of Buddha, a well-known Arhat, though not his direct disciple, and that he
was the founder of an esoteric philosophical school. (TG)

The World Teacher - takes office cyclically. His cycles do not coincide with
those of the Manu as the Manu holds office for the entire root-race. The
World Teacher gives out the keynote for the various religions and is the
emanating source for periodical religious impulses. The duration of his
cycles are not given out. The Buddha held office prior to the present World
Teacher and upon his Illumination His place was taken by the Lord Maitreya
whom the Occidentals call the Christ. TCF. 240.

16. The prayer uttered by Christ when leaving Earth remained unheeded by
men. The prayer uttered by Buddha remained unheeded by men. The prayer that
Maitreya shall pronounce knocks like lightning at the gates of the human
spirit. Thus is Earth stratified and the consciousness of the spirit
created.
Hierarchy.

As this Bodhisatva is said "to assume any form he pleases" from the
beginning of a Manvantara to its end, though his special birthday (memorial
day) is celebrated according to the Kin-kwang-ming-King ("Luminous Sutra of
Golden Light") in the second month on the nineteenth day, and that of
"Maitreya Buddha" in the first month on the first day, yet the two are one.
He will appear as Maitreya Buddha, the last of the Avatars and Buddhas, in
the seventh Race. This belief and expectation are universal throughout the
East. Only it is not in the Kali yug, our present terrifically materialistic
age of Darkness, the "Black Age," that a new Saviour of Humanity can ever
appear.
SDI. 470.

Kali Yuga - (Sk.). The Fourth, the black or iron age, our present period,
the duration of which is 432,000 years. (TG) see also Satya Yuga.

Kalidasa - (5th century A.D.) Greatest Hindu dramatist and lyric poet, often
referred to as the "Shakespeare of India". Author of Sakuntala.Kalki
Avatar - Maitreya corresponds to the Kalki Avatar in Hinduism (the "White
Horse Avatar" - see the Revelation of St. John), and to the Messiahs of all
nations. All the Messiahs are inevitably Avatars of Vishnu; therefore, they
belong to One Ego. In the exoteric legends the difference between Maitreya
and the Kalki Avatar is that while the Kalki Avatar will appear at the end
of the present Kali Yuga for the final destruction of the wicked, the
renovation of humanity and "the restoration of purity." Maitreya is expected
earlier. (LHR II, p 153)

201. When the world is convulsed, the sign of Maitreya is given as an
antidote. When the foundation of Our Works was laid, the forces of the
spirit were strengthened. Thus the sign of Maitreya has been affirmed. And
in Our Day, when the manifestation is affirmed, one can repeat, How vitally
the power of the spirit has entered into life and how greatly this new power
has been affirmed in consciousness. If we should call Buddha the Cause, then
Maitreya is the Effect. (AY, 287)

The Lord Buddha Dipankara came from the fourth Chain of the Venus Scheme;
the physical globe of that Chain was the Moon of Venus, which was seen by
Herschel but which has disappeared since his time. He was one of the members
of the General Staff, spoken of on p. 14, who may be sent to any Chain
needing help. The Lord Dipankara was followed in the great office of the
Buddha by the Buddhas of the Earth Chain; we know of the Lord Kashyapa, for
instance, the Bodhisattva of the third Root-Race, taking Buddhahood in the
fourth; and the Lord Gautama Himself, the Bodhisattva of the fourth Root
Race, taking Buddhahood in the fifth. He was succeeded by the Lord Maitreya,
the Bodhisattva of the fifth Root Race, who will take Buddhahood in the
sixth. He will be followed by the coming Bodhisattva of the sixth Root
Race-- now known as the Master K. H.--who will take Buddhahood in the
seventh. Man, Whence, Whither. AB. CL.

METTEYYA.
And the Blessed One replied: "I am not the first Buddha who came upon earth,
nor shall I be the last. In due time another Buddha will arise in the world,
a Holy One, a supremely enlightened One, endowed with wisdom in conduct,
auspicious, knowing the universe, an incomparable leader of men, a master of
angels and mortals. He will reveal to you the same eternal truths which I
have taught you. He will preach his religion, glorious in its origin,
glorious at the climax, and glorious at the goal, in the spirit and in the
letter. He will proclaim a religious life, wholly perfect and pure; such as
I now proclaim." Ananda said: "How shall we know him?" The Blessed One said:
"He will be known as Metteyya, which means 'he whose name is kindness.'"
Buddha The Gospel.

The three major Rays, being dual, are their own sufficient explanation. They
are at present the mode of expression of the three aspects, and demonstrate
under their appropriate Logoi, Who manipulate world affairs through the
three departments, of which the rulers on our planet are the Lord Maitreya,
the Manu, and the Mahachohan. TCF. 599.

A self-sacrificing, compassionate helper of humanity. ... Physically
indistinguishable in any way from the rest of humanity, they nevertheless
differ completely in their psychology, constantly being the heralds of the
principle of the common welfare ... What qualities must a Bodhisattva
possess? In the Teaching of Gotama Buddha and in the Teaching of Bodhisattva
Maitreya, given by Him to Asanga, according to tradition in the fourth
century, the maximum development of energy, courage, patience, constancy of
striving and fearlessness were first of all underlined. Energy is the basis
of everything, as it alone contains all possibilities. Buddhas are eternally
in action; immobility is unknown to Them. Like the eternal motion in space,
the actions of the Sons of Conquerors manifest in the worlds. (LHR I, pp
365-366)

Compassion, Lord of - "The Lord of Compassion" is a title of the coming
Maitreya, but it could be equally applied to all the great Sons of Light.
(LHR II, p 190)

. . . "The Sun is stationed, for all time, in the middle of the day, and
over against midnight, in all the Dwipas (continents), Maitreya! But the
rising and the setting of the Sun being perpetually opposite to each
other -- and in the same way, all the cardinal points, and so the
cross-points, Maitreya; people speak of the rising of the Sun where they see
it; and where the Sun disappears, there, to them, is his setting. Of the
Sun, which is always in one and the same place, there is neither setting nor
rising, for what is called rising and setting are only the seeing and the
not seeing the Sun." (Vishnu Purana, Book IL, ch. viii.) SDII. 155.

The Sacred Action of the Cosmic Magnet pre-ordains all creative moves in the
name of Maitreya. (HR. INF II, 129) Epoch of Maitreya - The New Era when the
Influence of Good will rise to ascendancy. They will ask, "Can the time of
Maitreya create an epoch?" Answer, "If the Crusades created a complete
epoch, then truly the Epoch of Maitreya is a thousandfold more significant."
(AY, 1)

Say the Buddhists; When Buddha [the Spirit of the Church] hears the hour
strike, he will send Maitreya Buddha - after whom the old world will be
destroyed. SDIII. 159.

When the practices taught by the Vedas, and the Institutes of Law shall have
nearly ceased, and the close of the Kali Yuga [ the "Iron Age" of Virgil ]
shall be nigh, an aspect of that divine Being who exists of his own
spiritual nature in the character of Brahm and even is the beginning of the
end [ Alpha and Omega ], . . . shall descend upon earth: he will be born in
the family of Vishnuyashas, an eminent Br hman of Shamballah . . . . endowed
with the eight superhuman powers. By his irresistible might he will destroy
. . . all whose minds are devoted to iniquity. He will then re stablish
righteousness upon earth; and the minds of those who live at the end of the
[ Kali ] Age shall be awakened and shall be as pellucid as crystal. [ At the
close of our Race, people, it is said, through suffering and discontent will
become more spiritual. Clairvoyance will become a general faculty. We shall
be approaching the spiritual state of the Third and Second Races.] The men
who are thus changed by virtue of that peculiar time shall be as the seeds
of human beings [ the Shistha, the survivors of the future cataclysm ], and
shall give birth to a race who shall follow the laws of the Krita [ or
Satya ] Yuga [the age of purity, or the "Golden Age"] For it is said: "When
the sun and moon and Tishya [asterisms] and the planet Jupiter are in one
mansion the Krita Age [the Golden] shall return. [Vishnu Pur na. IV., 228.
Wilson's translation.] SDIII. 348.

One of the chief mistakes of the Orientalists when judging on "internal (?)
evidence," as they express it, was that they assumed that the Pratyeka
Buddhas, the Bodhisattvas, and the "Perfect" Buddhas were a later
development of Buddhism. For on these three chief degrees are based the
seven and twelve degrees of the Hierarchy of Adeptship. The first are those
who have attained the Bodhi (wisdom) of the Buddhas, but do not become
Teachers. [The Pratyeka Buddha stands on the level of the Buddha, but His
work for the world has nothing to do with its teaching, and His office has
always been surrounded with mystery. The preposterous view that He, at such
superhuman height of power, wisdom and love could be selfish, is found in
the exoteric books, though it is hard to see how it can have arisen. H.P.B
charged me to correct the mistake, as she had, in a careless moment, copied
such a statement elsewhere.-A.B.] The human Bodhisattvas are candidates, so
to say, for perfect Buddhaship (in Kalpas to come), and with the option of
using their powers now if need be. SDIII. 416.

Shambhala - (Sk.). A very mysterious locality on account of its future
associations. A town or village mentioned in the Puranas, whence, it is
prophesied, the Kalki Avatar (Maitreya) will appear. Some Orientalists make
modern Muradabad in Rohilkhand (N.W.P.) identical with Shambhala, while
Occultism places it in the Himalayas. (TG)

A Mysterious Land - (Page 417) "Perfect" Buddhas are simply "perfect"
Initiates. All these are men, and not disembodied Beings, as is given out in
the Hinay na exoteric books. Their correct character may be found only in
the secret volumes of Lugrub or N g rjuna, the founder of the Mah y na
system, who is said to have been initiated by the N gas (fabulous
"Serpents," the veiled name for an Initiate or Mah tm ). The fabled report
found in Chinese records that N g rjuna considered his doctrine to be in
opposition to that of Gautama Buddha, until he discovered from the N gas
that it was precisely the doctrine that had been secretly taught by Sh
kyamuni Himself, is an allegory, and is based upon the reconciliation
between the old Br hmanical secret Schools in the Him layas and Gautama's
Esoteric teachings, both parties having at first objected to the rival
schools of the other. The former, the parent of all others, had been
established beyond the Him layas for ages before the appearance of Sh
kyamuni. Gautama was a pupil of this; and it was with them, those Indian
Sages, that He has learned the truths of the Sungata, the emptiness and
impermanence of every terrestrial, evanescent thing, and the mysteries of
Praj P ramit , or "knowledge across the River," which finally lands the
"Perfect One" in the regions of the One Reality. But His Arhats were not
Himself. Some of them were ambitious, and they modified certain teachings
after the great councils, and it is on account of these "heretics" that the
Mother-School at first refused to allow them to blend their schools, when
persecution began driving away the Esoteric Brotherhood from India. But when
finally most of them submitted to the guidance and control of the chief
shrams, then the Yog ch rya of ry sanga was merged into the oldest Lodge.
For it is there from time immemorial that has lain concealed the final hope
and light of the world, the salvation of mankind. Many are the names of that
School and land, the name of the latter being now regarded by the
Orientalists as the mythic name of a fabulous country. It is from this
mysterious land, nevertheless, that the Hindu expects his Kalki Avat ra, the
Buddhist his Maitreya, the P rs his Sosiosh, and the Jew his Messiah, and
so would the Christian expect thence his Christ-if he only knew of it.
SDIII.

Chapa-Thog-mad is the Tibetan name of ry sanga, the founder of the Yog ch
rya or Naljorchodpa School. This Sage and Initiate is said to have been
taught "Wisdom" by Maitreya Buddha Himself, the Buddha of the Sixth Race, at
Tushita (a celestial region presided over by Him), and as having received
from Him the five books of Champaitehos-nga. The Secret Doctrine teaches,
however, that he came from Dejung, or Shambballa, called the "source of
happiness" ("wisdom-acquired") and declared by some Orientaliss to be a
"fabulous" place. SDIII. 431.

Each Lord has his keynote. The Epoch of Maitreya proclaims woman. The
manifestation of Maitreya is linked with the confirmation of the Mother of
the World, in the past, present, and future. (HIER, 13)

Those who do not comprehend the new ways are greatly in need of
understanding the Epoch of Maitreya. (HIER, 390)

Our flaming Mother of Agni Yoga must manifest Fire to humanity in the Epoch
of Maitreya during the great period of shifting. (INF II, 290)

The coming epoch will be under the Rays of three Lords-Maitreya, Buddha, and
Christ. (LHR II, p 353)

The Epoch of Maitreya proclaims woman. The manifestation of Maitreya is
linked with the confirmation of the Mother of the World, in the past,
present and future. (HIER, 13)

The Great Spirit who is at the head of the New Cycle must contain within
Himself all synthesis, all the greatest Images of the past Cycle. That is
why the Synthesis of Maitreya includes all the Rays. (LHR I, p 266)

The year 1900 A. D., as well as being the close of a century cycle, was the
close, approximately speaking, of a 2,000-year cycle or astrological age,
the Age of Pisces, and the dawn of a new 2,000-year age, the Age of
Aquarius. The dawn of such an astrological age means the advent of a Messiah
or Avatar. An Avatar is a divine incarnation. He is the highest soul in
divine perfection who can incarnate for the salvation of the human race at
any given time. With the incoming of the dawn of the New Age, The Temple was
founded, in Syracuse, N. Y., in November 1898, two years inside the century
so that there was no break in the line of the work being carried on. It was
founded by the third-in point of time-of the Mahatmas [TT2@2] of the
Theosophical Movement, the Master Hilarion, as an inner order organization,
the Order of the 36 being its foundation stone. The Order of the 36 is, and
has been throughout the ages, the Order of the Sun-Son, or the Avatar on
this plane. Nothing at all was known in the West of the coming of the
Avatar, when The Temple was founded. The announcement of this "event of
great cosmic significance" was made by the One whose office and right it was
to make such announcement as "the first scientific statement," concerning
the early return of the Master Jesus. The Temple and the order of the 36
were founded by the Master Hilarion because of his office of Forerunner or
Annunciator. He is the Preparer of the Way for the Avatar-the Christ. This
work is designated in the New Testament as that of John the Baptist. It is
commonly thought that John the Baptist was only a man like any other,
excepting that he had a distinguished mission. But that which was
personalized in the man John is a cosmic principle, a Christly Office held
by one of the high Masters, the one next to the Avatar. It is the office
held by the Regent of the Red Ray, Who is a Dhyan Chohan, a Kumara known in
this age as Hilarion. He is, in short, the Manu of the Sixth Race. Teachings
Of The Temple II. MH. FLD.

The predictions and prophecies of the holiest, most self sacrificing
souls of all time ; all science and invention ; even the very stars in
heaven, as well as the sun that is now entering the sign of the
Water-Bearer, all prefigure the second coming of the Son of Man and the
servant of the people, and the period of his coming. Deep unrest, widespread
rebellion, passionate demands for freedom in all walks of life, all
proclaim the same tidings ; for without the latter the former would
be inadequate. One demands and the other supplies the necessary
information. The before mentioned prophecies and revelations also
predict or indicate the evolving of "peculiar children", in whom the long
atrophied psychic senses of the race will be again aroused, and through whom
many of the long hidden mysteries of life will be unsealed. As has also
been foretold, many false teachers are appearing who "if it were
possible would deceive even the elect", the prepared. Therefore, we, who
bring the message that has been sent to you, can only leave it to your own
soul to decide the authenticity of the Message and its application.
Thirty-five years ago there came a call from the long waiting
Seers of past ages, to a body that had been many, many years in
process of preparation, to go out into the world and make ready a still
larger body for the receipt and dispersion of vast revelations.
Ten years ago there came another call from the same Seers, to the faithful
of the first body ; to stand ready to deliver to the world the message they
brought and assist the people who would accept that message to recognize
the Messenger when he comes. Within the last year that message has
been deciphered and has been prematurely delivered by some whose inner
ears were partially opened, and who, therefore, caught some portions
of it when it was first delivered to its custodians. We who send the full
message to you were of the first and second bodies before mentioned. We
do not claim for ourselves anything [TT VI] that you may not have
if you will fulfill the necessary conditions. We only ask you now
to review your own past spiritual experiences, the instructions or
interpretings of your own pastors or teachers, the revealings of your
own higher selves as to the necessity, probability, and possibility, of a
return to earth of the great soul called Jesus of Nazareth, according to his
own prophecy ; and also, ask what is the possibility of your recognizing him
or any other great soul with no more knowledge of the nature or substance of
the soul or body in which he must come than the average person
possesses ? When one realizes that he would not be able to recognize
his own father or mother without previous association and mutual
experiences, the difficulty in the way of the recognition of a Saviour or
Avatar, without adequate preparation, is obvious. Not all the
paraphernalia of the heavenly spheres, the sound of trumpet or voice
of angel would prove the identity of such an one, for we are told the
satanic emissaries could make use of similar means. Something must be
done to or within us individually to make such recognition possible
and, according to the words of the message we bring to you, it is
quite possible to make such preparation for the coming Christ, and to
make it first in our own hearts. Temple Teachings. FLD. MH.

Esoteric Psychology II - Chapter III - Humanity Today - The New Group of
World Servers e.
The World Servers and the May Full Moon The Month of May is one of deepest
significance to all who are affiliated with the Great White Lodge (as are
all true esotericists) in that the Wesak Festival takes place and is of
moment and deep import. The period is always one of prime interest and rare
opportunity, but the Wesak Festival of 1936 was unique and the Lodge of
Masters prepared for it for six months.
May I add also that the Buddha Himself in His high place and the blessed
Lord Maitreya (known to Christian disciples as The Christ) have since then
been in close communication with each other and cooperating in order to
bring about a receptivity on the part of the human family to a possible
outflow of spiritual force which may serve to turn the tide of the present
distress, depression and uncertainty and thus inaugurate an era of peace and
of soul-culture. This item of information is of interest, is it not? In
connection with these Festivals every May, I am presenting you an
opportunity to serve and to bring about the desired objective of peace.
pg 684.

Those aspirants and disciples who can train themselves to the realization of
an increased spiritual responsibility and can preserve an inner quietness
and a focused esoteric attentiveness can be swept into this tide of
spiritual force and can then and thus serve humanity's need. As transmitters
they meet that need; as interpreters they increase the capacity of the human
being to respond and to understand. In order to effect this transmission of
force, a peculiar interchange of ideas and of cooperation is going on
between the Lord Buddha and the Lord Maitreya, and They are subjecting
Themselves to a most definite form of training in order to present to these
interested Spiritual Beings Who are seeking to help the planet, more
adequate channels of service.
EPII. 685.

I would assert here that the great and satisfying reply to all human
questioning and human need is to be found in the doctrine of Avatars, and in
the continuity of divine Revelations. This is the persistent belief -
ineradicable and unalterable - that (at major moments of world need) God
reveals Himself through Appearances, through a Coming One. This doctrine is
found in all the basic world religions, in every time and age; it appears in
the doctrine of the Avatars of the Hindu faith, in the teaching of the
return of Maitreya Buddha or the Kalki Avatar, in the belief in the Western
world in the return of Christ and His Advent or second Coming, and in the
prophesied issuing forth of the divine Adventurer of the Moslem world. All
this is tied up with the undying belief of mankind in the loving Heart of
God, Who ever meets man's need. The witness of history is that always the
appearance of man's necessity has been met with a divine Revelation. EH 286.

The use of the Lord's image is frequently of vital importance, but - and it
is here that I seek to lay the emphasis - it must be the image arrived at by
oneself through the medium of the expansion of the Christ consciousness in
one's own life, and by arriving at the stage of conscious discipleship. At
that particular stage, when a man is definitely linked with a Master and His
group, he is then, automatically and as an individual, linked with the
Master of all Masters. He can then, via his own soul and the soul of his
particular group, draw on the force of Maitreya Buddha. Why, think you, is
there no good and true picture of the Blessed One. There are only a few
speculations by the devotees of the early church and none by those who knew
Him. The reason is a definite one. There is no true image of Him because it
must be upon our hearts and not upon our canvases. We arrive at knowledge of
Him because He is ours, as we are His. Do you understand that whereof I
speak? He is the world Healer and Savior. EH. 360.

The Work of the World Teacher, the ChristGroup two has the World Teacher for
its presiding Head. He is that Great Being whom the Christian calls the
Christ; he is known also in the Orient as the Bodhisattva, and as the Lord
Maitreya, and is the one looked for by the devout Mohammedan, under the name
of the Iman Madhi. He it is who has presided over the destinies of life
since about 600 B.C. and he it is who has come out among men before, and who
is again looked for. He is the great Lord of Love and of Compassion, just as
his predecessor, the Buddha, was the Lord of Wisdom. [44] Through him flows
the energy of the second aspect, reaching him direct from the heart center
of the Planetary Logos via the heart of Sanat Kumara. He works by means of a
meditation centered within the heart. He is the World Teacher, the Master of
the Masters, and the Instructor of the Angels, and to him is committed the
guidance of the spiritual destinies of men, and the development of the
realization within each human being that he is a child of God and a son of
the Most High. IHS. 44. AAB. DK.

According to the prophecy of the most ancient Teachers, when humanity loses
the foundation of the Teaching and sinks into obscurity, the Epoch of
Maitreya will take place. (HIER, 1)

Initiation, Human and Solar - Glossary B-E
Bodhisattva Literally, he whose consciousness has become intelligence, or
buddhi. Those who need but one more incarnation to become perfect buddhas.
As used in these letters the Bodhisattva is the name of the office which is
at present occupied by the Lord Maitreya, who is known in the occident as
the Christ. This office might be translated as that of World Teacher. The
Bodhisattva is the Head of all the religions of the world, and the Master of
the Masters and of the angels.

Buddha (The) The name given to Gautama. Born in India about B.C. 621 he
became a full buddha in B.C. 592. The Buddha is one who is the
"Enlightened," and has attained the highest degree of knowledge possible for
man in this solar system.

For decades, the reappearance of the Christ, the Avatar, has been
anticipated by the faithful in both hemispheres - not only by the Christian
faithful, but by those who look for Maitreya and for the Boddhisattva as
well as those who expect the Imam Mahdi. When men feel that they have
exhausted all their own resources and have come to an end of all their own
innate possibilities and that the problems and conditions confronting them
are beyond their solving or handling, they are apt to look for a divine
Intermediary and for the Mediator Who will plead their cause with God and
bring about a rescue. They look for a Savior. This doctrine of Mediators, of
Messiahs, of Christs and of Avatars can be found running like a golden
thread through all the world faiths and Scriptures and, relating these world
Scriptures to some central source of emanation, they are found in rich
abundance everywhere. RC. 6.

The approaching Maitreya is symbolized with His feet set upon earth-the
symbol of haste. It is predicted that the manifestation of Maitreya will
come after the wars. But the final war will be for the True Teaching. But
each one rising up against Shambhala shall be stricken in all his works. And
the waves shall wash away his dwelling. And even a dog will not answer to
his call. Not clouds but lightning shall he see on the final night. And the
red messenger shall rise up on pillars of Light. The teaching indicates that
each warrior of Shambhala shall be named the Invincible. The Lord Himself
hastens. And His Banner is already above the mountains. AY. Crossroads.

The Blessed Buddha bestowed upon you the cherished Maitreya to approach the
New Era. AY. Crossroads.

All preceding Yogas, given from the highest Sources, took as their basis a
particular aspect of life. Now, at the dawn of the age of Maitreya, there is
needed a Yoga comprising the essence of the whole of life, all-embracing,
evading nought. One remembers the example of those unignitible youths in the
biblical legend who valiantly sacrificed themselves to the fiery furnace and
thereby acquired power. You may call this the Yoga of Life. But the most
precise name will be Agni Yoga. It is precisely the element of fire that
gives its name to this Yoga of self-sacrifice. AY. 158.

336. No name will provoke so many attacks as that of Maitreya, for it is
bound up with the future. Nothing provokes so much fear and irritation in
people as thinking about the future. Striving toward the future, be ready
for battle. Do not hide your striving, for fire strives upward and only a
high degree of striving will strengthen our union. The Teaching of Agni Yoga
must transform one's inner life. And externally, neither horns, tail, or
wings, nor pompous condescension, superstition, or malice, shall be your
traits.

Understand once again that the time of changes of continents is approaching.
Maitreya is coming, in the vanguard of science, addressing its new
frontiers. All the problems of science and of the evolution of all that
exists are of concern to the Teacher. AY. 345.

95. Once a woman stopped between images of the Blessed Buddha and Maitreya,
not knowing to Whom to offer her reverence. And the image of the Blessed
Buddha uttered these words: "According to My Covenant, revere the future.
Standing in defense of the past, direct your gaze toward the dawn." Remember
how We labor for the future, and direct all your being into the future! In
rays of knowledge We bring a Teaching strange to the world, for the light of
the world is covered by darkness. NEC.

It is time to make ready the Banner of Maitreya. Who said that the time of
Maitreya is without lightning and without whirlwind! We prefer to test you
in flight. NEC. 247.

Knowledge of the form in which the coming Avatar is to appear to man has
been withheld from man for a definite purpose. If it should prove to be, as
before outlined, in the form of a Glorified Body, it will not be difficult
to understand how two biblical prophecies relating to the "second coming of
Christ" may be fulfilled, i. e. : "He shall come in a cloud with power
and great glory" and "He shall appear in the twinkling of an eye
and every eye shall behold him." Natural laws would have to be
suspended to make possible the verification of those two prophecies if an
Avatar were to appear in a strictly physical form. But whatever be the form,
or whether that form be perceptible to inner or outer vision, one
indisputable fact remains, the mere seeing of the form would count for
little. It will rest upon the conscious effort of the individual man or
woman as to what the final effect of that event will be upon him or her.
The human will enforced by Divine Will must settle the question of
preparation and the course of action to be pursued in the interim
between now and the final event, as has been done in former Messianic
Cycles. It would be well if each reader of this article should make
an individual and present issue of this subject of the Coming of the Avatar.
Above all else, his or her readiness for the Call of the Christ will depend
entirely upon individual effort and the spirit of unselfishness which
actuates that effort. We can only pray that the Christ may have mercy on
the one who refuses to make the effort, for there is no mercy in the Code
of Laws which governs the action of the Individual Ego . the divine Self .
when the human soul is brought before its judgment Seat. Temple Teachings.
MH. FLD. 512.

Each one of your number must conscientiously determine his position
on one side or the other of the path in the great trial by fire that is now
on the human race. It is imperative that you take a stand for the salvation
of the religion of the Christ regardless of individual differences. Is there
to be one vast harmonious movement toward true Civilization, or must
there be rapid destruction of all forma which have hitherto been
built to that end ? This is the most important and momentous question of
the present age, and it can only be rightly answered from the
religious point of view. Temple Teachings. MH. FLD. 516.

Unless you have destroyed the bridge between your soul and body, you cannot
eliminate your belief in a Supreme Being-a God-whether that belief is based
on a personal God, a Hierarchy of Divine Beings, or upon the Higher Self of
each one. The law of evolution alone would compel your belief in such a
Being, if you accept its decrees. The time is coming when you will be
compelled to affirm or deny your belief in that Supreme Being. "The First
Born Son of God," the Christ, will appear in concrete form again, when His
cycle opens, as He has appeared again and again in the past; but this time
it will be infinite in expression of the radiance of His Selfhood, the
center of the effulgence of Divine Love. Temple Teachings II. 145. MH. FLD.

THE BODIES OF THE CHRISTS
Possibly no other subject would be of equal interest to believers in the
reappearance of a Christ, especially at such an interesting period as the
present, as would the subject of the body in which such a Christ might
incarnate. To the deep student of Esotericism the seeming mystery appears
easy of solution, for the seven-fold constitution of matter, the
interpenetration of all planes and state of matter, force and consciousness,
and the power of will and mind over all organized substance, throw much
light on the subject. In order that those interested may have the
opportunity of viewing the subject from some of the aspects accepted by the
Masters, as represented to us, we will endeavor to present the same, while
fully realizing the difficulties in the way of an adequate delineation. One
of the difficulties encountered by the average mind in accepting the fact of
the cyclic reincarnation of an Avatar is due to ignorance of the truth that
when the substance matter of a world, or any one form of energy or force, or
even the atoms of a single physical body, reach a certain definite rate of
vibration, that world, state or body is changed to some degree in an
instant. Therefore such a change, as for example, the raising of the
vibrations of the matter of this world to the next higher degree in the
scale of evolution, would make manifest to those who were in the raised
degree, the forms of life already existent in that degree. As such changes
invariably occur at certain definite cycles, there must of necessity be a
synchronous vibration of all forms of matter in both degrees in such an
instance, making possible immediate inter-communication and identification
of all interests. One degree may be raised without affecting Others save to
a minor extent. Reverse the process and consider the lowering of the
vibrations of a single form of matter or a body existing on a plane
immediately above the present earth plane and it is evident that the body
would then appear to be like the occupants of the lower plane. One of the
best known Bible prophesies refers to such change as in the twinkling of an
eye. [TT2@176]

The personality known to the people of his day as Jesus of Nazareth was a
certain combination of the same character of life sparks-seed-as are those
which now constitute all other personalities. Being earlier differentiations
of the Absolute than are others, they are the bases of all the seed-the
atoms of all the personalities-known to humanity as Saviours of the human
race; patterns as it were, on which later lives were built. Each one of
those bodies of the Christ was ensouled by one and the same Ego, the
first-born Son of His Father. The soul and the bodies used by the Son have
been gaining power, experience and development through their manifestation
in form just as the soul and bodies of all humanity must gain the same, and
for the same purpose, the purpose that was expressed by Jesus in the words,
"that you may become one with us, I in you and you in me, that we may be
perfected in One." It is a question of the reliability of those who claim to
know these facts rather than unbelief in the possiblity of such phenomenal
changes, which drives the great majority of unbelievers in Occultism into
repudiation of the truth, and therefore into materialism, and the other isms
and cults of the age. The very simplicity of the idea is the greatest
argument against it in the complex, unevenly developed minds of a great many
people, when it is not due to the inability to think or reason out the
details of purely natural life and who believe that only by some great
miracle could a Saviour come to earth. The votaries of many different
religions are now looking forward to some Christly manifestation. In some
instances it is taught that a reincarnation of Jesus is taking place in the
body of a child, and in others in that of a full-grown man, ignoring or
denying the truth of the express statement of Jesus (after his
resurrection), as to the manner of his second coming. [TT2@179] While we
admit that obsession of a physical body by a departed soul is quite possible
and frequently occurs, and also that a manifestation of the Christ may be
born every day in the year, we cannot admit that such a great soul, a Master
of such high degree, having passed his last earthly initiation, is still
compelled to return to earth by the same means and by the same method used
in former and lesser incarnations. In such case, what advantage is all the
power He had gained over earthly limitations, over Heaven and earth and the
very devils in Hell, as is claimed for him? Is it even reasonable to believe
that He is still confined to the same limited conditions which hindered Him
in a previous life, or that he is compelled to use the body of another soul,
thus driving out that soul, in order to manifest Himself, especially when
such a course would violate His own given promise? If He is to be the
progenitor of a new race surely He will come under a different law of
manifestation than the one which now dooms the human race to such woe and
suffering. It has been repeatedly taught by the Master that a human brain
could not conceive an idea or imagine an object that has no existence. If
this truth can be accepted and you individually are conscious that the
individuality, the Ego-the " I am"-is something apart from your body though
related to it, you will not find it difficult to imagine the parting from,
or the revivifying of that body, even if it is in a state of dissolution or
disintegration, and therefore can perceive how a more highly developed Ego
could revivify his own body with ease. The same forces are in action in
either case, but the methods of use in materialization may be different.
That a Christ is to come to the human race is beyond all question to those
who have access to the astral planes, or those who believe in the countless
prophesies of such an event. The real question is what are you individually
going to do by thought, word and deed to open the way for His Coming?
[TT2@180]

You will never recognize the Christ or meet with such recognition as you
desire unless you have done your part toward building up the necessary
mutual interests and memories, by obedience to His demands, thereby
preparing a matrix within which the ideal Christ may first take form and
become visible to you. If you are questioning the possibility, yet desiring
the reappearance of the last great Avatar, give your own self, your Soul, as
well as that Great One, an opportunity of proving not only the possibility
but the certainty, by preparing a place in your heart for Him first, and
then making what outer preparations are needful, as you have been directed.

Knowers now work actively, under the direct impression of the Christ, in
leading [66] humanity from darkness to light and from death to immortality.
These are the great underlying truths which are distinctive of the Christ,
of the Buddha, and of the Church of God, as it expresses itself in the East
and in the West; these are the only truths which matter. In the future, the
eyes of humanity will be fixed upon Christ and not upon any such man-made
institutions as the Church and its dignitaries; Christ will be seen as He is
in reality, working through His disciples, through the Masters of the Wisdom
and through His followers who toil unseen (and usually unrecognized) behind
world affairs. The sphere of His activity will be known to be the human
heart and also the crowded market places of the world, but not some stone
edifice and not the pomp and ceremony of any ecclesiastical headquarters.
Our study of the future work of the Christ is necessarily based upon three
assumptions: That the reappearance of the Christ is inevitable and assured.
That He is today and has been actively working - through the medium of the
spiritual Hierarchy of our planet, of which He is the Head - for the welfare
of humanity. That certain teachings will be given and certain energies will
be released by Him in the routine of His work and coming. People are apt to
forget that the coming of the Christ necessitates a period of intensive
preparation by Him; He, too, works under law and is subject to control from
various sources - just as are all human beings, but in a much lesser degree.

His reappearance is conditioned and determined by the reaction of humanity
itself; by that reaction He must abide. His work is subject also to certain
phases of [67] spiritual and cyclic timing and to impressions from sources
to be found on higher levels than those upon which He normally works. Just
as human affairs have effects upon His action, so great "determinations" and
"profound settlements within the will of God" also have their effects. The
human side or nature of the Christ, perfected and sensitive, responds to the
invocation and to the appeal of men; His divine side or nature is equally
responsive to the impact of energies, issuing from "the center where the
will of God is known." Between these two, He has to make adjustment and
bring about right timing. The bringing of good out of human so-called evil
is no easy task; the vision of the Christ is so vast and His grasp of the
Law of Cause and Effect, of Action and Reaction is such that the arriving at
right decision as to activity and time is no simple one. Human beings are
apt to look at all that happens, or that could happen, from the purely human
and immediate angle; they have little understanding of the problems,
decisions and implications with which Christ is today faced. In these, His
pledged disciples share. Their task is to develop "the mind that is in
Christ" and as they do so, they will help make clear the way for "the coming
of His feet," as the Bible puts it (Heb., XII, 13.) Seeing life and events
in the light of the spiritual values, as He does, will facilitate the giving
out of the new teaching and will provide the skeleton structure of the new
world religion, thus giving us a fresh view of divine intention and a living
insight into the minds of Those Who implement the divine will and are the
engineers of humanity's future. Let us, therefore, try and appreciate not
only the opportunity which Christ has to help us (which is the usual
presentation), but let us look also at the crises and problems with which He
is confronted as He faces the work which He must do. [68] The Reappearance
Of The Christ. AAB. DK.

In the light of the Will of God, Christ made certain basic decisions and
determined to carry them out in the relatively immediate future - the exact
date of His coming being known only to Him and a few of His senior workers;
yet all of these future events lie hid in a certain fundamental decision of
humanity itself. This decision is being arrived at through certain new
trends in human thinking, and will be the result of a subjective human
reaction to the decision already arrived at by the Christ and the spiritual
Hierarchy, the Church invisible. The motivation for this reappearance is
complete and settled. It is clearly perceived by the Christ. The work
initiated by Him two thousand years ago must be completed; the new world
religion must be inaugurated; the needs of a demanding, invocative humanity
cannot be ignored, those steps which precede a stupendous hierarchical
initiation in which the Christ is the leading Participant must be taken; the
events which are symptomatic of the "time of the end" may not be delayed.

The Reappearance Of The Christ. AAB. DK.

It was to the definite performance of His duties as Distributor, Nourisher
and Dispenser that He pledged Himself in June, 1945, and entered upon His
responsibilities as the Forerunner and the Teacher of the Aquarian Age.
As Nourisher of the Little Ones, we are dealing with an aspect of Christ's
work which involves the stimulation of the consciousness of His disciples as
they prepare to undergo initiation or to enter into deeper phases of
spiritual awareness. The result of His work in the Triangle with the masses
of men will be the presentation of the first initiation -the Birth of the
Christ in the cave of the Heart - as the basic ceremony in the new world
religion. By means of this ceremony, the masses of men in all lands will be
enabled to register consciously the "birth of the Christ" in the heart, and
the "being born again" to which He Himself referred (John III, 3.) when here
on Earth before. This new birth is what esotericists mean when they speak of
the first initiation. It will not, in the future, be the experience of the
occasional disciple but the general experience of countless thousands
towards the close of the Aquarian Age. The purifying waters of the Baptism
Initiation (the second initiation) will submerge hundreds of aspirants in
many lands, and these two initiations (which are preparatory to true
service, and the third initiation of the Transfiguration) will set the seal
on Christ's mission as the Agent of the great spiritual Triangle which He
represents.

The major work of Christ, however, as far as the disciples and the
definitely spiritually-minded people of the world are concerned, plus the
hundreds of thousands of advanced humanity, is so to "nourish" their
spiritual consciousness and life that they will be enabled to take [87] the
third and fourth initiations - those of the Transfiguration and the
Renunciation (or Crucifixion).
As esotericists know, the term "little ones" refers to those disciples who
are "babes in Christ" (as The New Testament terms it) and who have taken the
first two initiations of the Birth and the Baptism. They are aware of the
spiritual aspiration which is indicative of the Christ life in their hearts,
and they have subjected themselves to the processes of purification which
culminate in the baptismal waters. Christ must prepare these aspirants for
the higher initiations and so nourish and aid them that they can stand
before the One Initiator and become pillars in the Temple of God (i.e.,
agents of the spiritual Hierarchy and, therefore, active, working
disciples). When He was in Palestine, centuries ago, He said, "No man cometh
unto the Father but by me." (John XIV, 6.) This was a foretelling of the
work which He would be called upon to do in the Aquarian era. The
